The AR15 Picture Thread

I own the Huxwrx flow, I have an RC3 in jail. I got to shoot the knew KAC 556 (larger, not mini) and I got to shoot the new Sig 556 flow variant. The Huxwrx moves the most gas forward in my opinion. It is also the most fragile feeling, maybe least robust. The RC3 and the Sig feel like you could use them as small clubs and beat something senseless with them. I like the KAC connect/disconnect system the best. If I was going to rank them on who moves the most gas forward it would be Hux, Sig, then KAC=Surefire. I did not notice a big difference in terms of sound behind the gun with them. I went with the RC3 because of legacy muzzle devices, military contracts and the expectation that I will never outshoot it. You could probably say the same thing for the KAC.
No experience with the new Huxwrx printed suppressors, but the old OSS HX-556 shifted the POI so much I have to use it on designated rifles that they never come off of. The Surefire RC2 Socom 556 has minimal shift and therefor finds itself on more of my rifles. Also have the OSS HX QD 7.62 and I have the same issue. Just because of this issue I won't buy another Huxwrx/OSS suppressor. I would like a KAC suppressor or two to go on my KAC rifles, but I never see them for sale.

You just need to buy from one of the more active KAC dealers. I have a few QDC cans for my KAC sticks, no complaints and it only seems fitting for a KAC rifle to be running a KAC can. If you own their kit then you’ve already drank the koolaide and you might as well drink it to the last drop.

Only thing about the RC3 is the silly high price and the fact that it’s louder than the RC2. No 556 can is all that great in terms of suppression so I guess that doesn’t matter to most.

I'd like one of KAC's new 3D printed cans, maybe more so after seeing the MSRP of the new Surefire RC3. I have a AAC Mini4 as well (great shorty old school can), it resides on one of my LMT's but you've gotta get a KAC can on that Mod2/1 hybrid there.
yes i would like to have one of those new 3d printed cqb cans also

it was hard to give up the 3.1 when the mod 2's came out , i did put the 4 to good use on another build since you can tuck a suppressor inside of one

Agreed, the URX3/3.1 is still one of the best looking rails ever made. Which can recessed inside of the 4?

another old aac can , an sdn-6

when i bought that suppressor it was one of the shorter , lighter 308 offerings available. compared to what's available nowadays it's just long and heavy , but like the m4 2000 and mini 4 it's built like a tank and can take some abuse

it found a good home being on a dedicated suppressed upper. it's length and weight are no longer a factor and it's an awesome can for 300 blk

looking at that picture again i just realized that was my first ar , it was a factory 7" kitty kat gun. it has had several different uppers over the years but i think it's found it's final configuration

pic of it's original 7" kitty kat upper

I still run the SDN-6 on my AAC MPW, great can in terms of durability and suppression. 11-12 years old now and one of my first NFA purchases.

my SDN6 is still intact, but sent my SD back to the new PSA-owned AAC to get the Ranger 7 restoration/modification. I’d already had the 51T mounts cut off and converted to hub mounts, but sent that, and my OG TiRant 45 in as well for a re-core…both got new factory warranties too.

the original ss baffles were still good, but the aluminum baffles were toast; so pitted from literally 10s of thousands of rounds over the years, I didn’t feel safe shooting it any more.

Funny story, well, funny now in retrospect…hell when it was happening…that Tirant can was actually back at AAC waiting in the queue for a recore when Remington went tits up. Took several months to get it back. Nothing was done, but at that point, I was just happy to get it back. Having the opportunity to get it recored by the new AAC was a huge relief for me.

I have a Tirant as well. So tell me about this service, how long does it take and what’s the cost? Are they switching out the 51T mounts as well?

If you do the Ranger 7 conversion, yes….everything’s swapped but a small ring of metal with the serial number from the original can. Turnaround time for me was about one week.

Wasn’t cheap, but I essentially got a couple brand new cans with no wait. New factory warranties on both too…. The SD can that I put through the restoration/modification program had already been converted to a hub mount by Ecco Machine (they’re awesome btw), but I had a couple light end cap strikes over the years, and frankly was worth it to me to see how the conversion would turn out, and to get a modern can with a replaceable/changeable end cap.

I like the Resto SD/Ranger can quite a bit actually. A good bit lighter and shorter than the SD can it was made from, and a very pleasing tone vs. how it sounded originally. Hard to describe, but more of a thump, like a mortar round, than a quieter rifle shot.

Or maybe my hearing’s just gotten even worse…LoL.

More info here: https://advanced-armament.com/restoration-program/

My TiRant was a simple recore, and the fact that it was actually at AAC waiting in the queue to be recored under warranty when they went tits-up still chaps my ass, but it’s nice to be shooting that one again, despite the price To het it fixed.

Can you elaborate why? As in why get a bootleg BCG? What benefits have you noticed sir?
The bootleg carrier has an adjustment for running suppressed. Much like an adjustable gas block but it won't seize or be hard to adjust.

I run one with my AEM5 and NT4 equipped uppers and there is basically zero gas to the face while still locking the bolt back on the last round fired.

The person I quoted was talking about getting a flow through suppressor. The bootleg accomplishes the same thing at the shooters face as a newer tech suppressor. It actually takes it a step further by having 4 adjustments to tune to your rifle.

My NSWDG Recce runs on full suppressed setting perfect. While my 11.5" with NT4 runs one setting past unsuppressed.

but if i just get a bootleg carrier then that negates the need/WANT of a new 5.56 can , and with a flow through can i might be able to keep the kac sandcutter carrier in there for cool dude points

i have an e-carrier on the way from LMT , yeah black friday sale , and i think i'm going to try it with a BRT gas tube and see how that runs

and while that gun is generously gassed it's not terrible. a PRI gasbuster has worked well enough for years , i'm just looking for an excuse to buy a new 5.56 can

My first AR purchase back in 2011 finally getting some mods after so many years. Added a rail to the the 12 o clock on the handguard and a 10” Arca on the bottom (MDT bipod arriving soon). Also removed the beloved JP comp to add a dead air flash hider to be able to run my Sierra5. May change out the scope in the future.

Sig Sauer M400 Moe Enhanced. The lpvo is a second focal plane. 1- 8 x 28 Spectre by Monstrum Tactical.
At the moment I don't have access to much of a range when it comes to zeroing this scope. So I'm thinking about doing a 25-yard zero using a laser
boresighter.
Any thoughts or comments? It would be greatly appreciated.

A very appealing 18" 6mm ARC with Proof CF barrel for a new customer. JP FMOS, SLR adjustable gas block, TriggerTech Diamond trigger set at 2.0 LB, and BCM MK2 recoil system make this one smooth running machine. Inbound for it are a Kahles K18i and an OSS Flow 762 Ti. I'll have to get more photos when fully decked out.

Second upper in 300BLK for my daughter’s AR finished…got the hood for the red dot back from getting Cerakoted Prison Pink , and just finished bolting it back on. Wanted to get it anodized vs. Cerakote, but no one near me does titanium.

…no that’s not dirt on the lower, just covered up the trust info (SBR’d):

You're a good Dad.

Probably my favorite AR15. It would be the gun I grab over my 12.5" SBR or 18" Mk12. Stupid accurate and able to serve as a night gun in different capacities.

PRI 16" Douglas SPR 1:7 with an OCM5
PRI Upper with a BCM QRF 12
Spikes lower (nothing fancy) with an SSA-E
NX8 1-8 (DMX) in a C1 with an RMR
Arisaka Modlight + DBAL A2
