Not too long ago, the village I live in installed them somewhere (for no real good reason). They've already caused several accidents. I guess that's why they keep raising our taxes, to pay for stupid shit like them and all the lawsuits that will follow.

We have tons of speed bumps around town that keep folks slow rolling through the neighborhoods. Most other folks just call them potholes or dirt roads though.

Double speed bump is a serious dick move and asking for someone to get seriously hurt. There's for sure some necks whipping around pretty nasty like, all because they missed a fucking speed bump sign where numerous cars are parked roadside and likely blocking visibility of them. I know when I'm driving down a neighborhood road with cars parked roadside, the #1 thing I'm looking out for are children suddenly appearing from between two parked cars, not a fucking speed bump sign.

Don't speed and there won't be a problem.

Adding ridiculously tall speed humps on my street caused every ricer-tuner car to simply drive on the sidewalk to get past them. Well done city. Well done.

Besides these tank traps on the main drag ;) my town loves putting stop signs up for no reason, I suppose in an attempt to slow people down. It has accomplished 3 things:

People driving even faster in between them.
People just going through them.
People doing both of those.
None has made anyone safer.

They put a stop sign at the end of my street where it crosses the main road through town. I can recall 2 or 3 accidents there in 40+ years. Put up the sign and there's been 2 or 3 a month in the years since.

Maybe that's why these are lower and two instead of one?

I did not install them, but I like the show.

Those speed bumps are set up to require one to reduce speed to well under the typical residential speed limit of 25 mph. Hit those bumps at 25 mph and you're running a strong chance of getting injured, especially if you already have an injured neck or back.
We have single bumps just like these near my house. Same paint lines and all. You can hit them at 25 MPH with no issue.

Of course, Iā€™m coasting over the bump, not on the brakes. Cuz, braking hard on a bump never helps.

Looks like you are correct on these.

"Speed limit 25, 10mph warning before the bumps with signage on the street as well as poles."

Ours, 15 is probably too fast in most cars. Of course the village didn't cheap out on blacktop ones, ours are stone works, a Belgian blocks type thing. spare no expense pissing away our tax dollars.

What's the fucking speed limit? 5mph?

You hit those things doing anything over 20 and you're fucking something up.

Glad to see you enjoy watching the state further fuck over people just going about their day.

You sound like the kind of prick who calls the IRS to report your neighbor for doing odd jobs under the table.
Answered on post 12.

Yes, I enjoy the vid.
Looks like a nerve was touched?

If dong the 25 limit, it should be easy to see the sings and react. If speeding, it might not be so easy. And hence the fun vid.

Mwah ha ha...

Exactly, it's the doubling that close that causes your front end to hit the second bump when already bottomed out on travel, having no give and launching the car erratically into the air.

Speed bumps belong in parking lots, school zones at crossings, and other heavy pedestrian trafficked areas where there is a defined area needing that restriction in overall speed for a short length of roadway. Residential areas where it's a main thoroughfare should have higher speed limits and the residents stay the fuck off the street, with side streets the typical 25 mph.

A speed bump(s) on a main throughway has no effect on actual speed control other than causing brief braking followed by hard on the throttle to "make back up that lost time". It's a basic psychological understanding of human nature's cause-effect reaction, and that municipality failed hard at it.

"I'd hit that"....(old pic).....Especially after the new suspension!!! Some of those are downright painful!!!! I'd think a fresh 3" of snow and that would get really western!

Im Mexico they call them 'Topes', or bumps. Theirs make those look tame. The first one I hit damn near wrecked my truck, I learned quick to slow down near the towns. I went itno a restaurant for supper right after that, still a bit shook, and jokingly told the waitress to bring me 'topes fritos' or fried topes. The vaqueros at the next table about split when she got all pissed. 'Topes' is also slang for tits so I was asking for fried tits.

Damnit there you go with the voice or reason again.

What they do in Mexico is only use one but make it narrower and taller so its shakes the shit out of you but wont cause trouble.

Came through the neighborhood enterance one afternoon and saw new speedbumps. Going out the next day, noticed a hunk of asphault missing and a puddle of oil leading away.

I used to have the opposite in front of my old house. Two wicked dips in a row. Came home for lunch and there was a full size truck camper in the front yard. Always pieces of cars strewn about. Right before I got the hell out of Longmont, a woman launched through the neighbor's fence and smashed into their house.

yeah, god forbid there be inclement weather making the sign hard to see....or god forbid you have kids making noise and are distracted for a second...or theres a fucking box truck in front of you preventing you from seeing the fucking thing.

now your neck is fucked up, your kids are fucked up, and your car is busted....and the state and boot licking statists just say "yeah fuck you".

laughing at kids potentially getting injured?.....way to be a real cockfag.

funny, i cant booby-trap my house......but the state has no problem creating road hazards by boobytrapping the roads....and you laugh like a faggot over it.
Warning!! Responding to this will result in your admission that you are a SS sympathizer. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜…

It seems I ruffled some feathers with this post. Perhaps our life experiences have led us to have different reactions.

A friend and coworker of mine, son was killed due to a careless driver in a 25 mile an hour speed zone.

Watching her descend into depression was difficult for her family and coworkers. When she returned to work approximately nine months later, she was unrecognizable. Bloated, puffy depressed eyes, it looked like she aged 10 years. To this day when I see her in the office, Iā€™m reminded of this sad event.

So, when I see this video of careless drivers who are unable to follow the clearly posted rules, in a 25 MPR zone, my reaction may be different than some of yours.

I respect that some may think that the careless driver is the victim in this case. Peace, brother. Live long and prosper.

Now please excuse me while I watch another compilation of careless drivers, and enjoy a hearty belly laugh at every spark.

Instead of fucking with every driver why not just ticket the speeders?
I've heard the people to enforce this are already hired and paid for.
Just another fucking Karen/HOA solution.
Last place I saw these was in a neighborhood that could see the Florida Gulf.
Something tells me they pay some fucking high taxes that could finance the mobile hall monitors.

People have been careless and killed others with guns should we get rid of the second amendment? Rights trump tragedy every time and the state isnt supposed to have their thumb on every aspect of our lives

It's clear that they are poorly marked. Maybe add a three way stop on the left side where another road Ts to that road. Or add flashers to the speed bump signs. I've seen where they add a circle in the middle of the street forcing you to slow down to navigate the circle. Not a roundabout, a circle that forces you to the right side of the lane.

My best friend and his youngest son were killed when another driver came across the highway centerline and hit them head on. The other 2 boys and his wife walked away physically uninjured after doing CPR on the little guy in the tall grass next to the highway. Itā€™s called tragedy. Get over yourself. Big speed bumps that wreck suspensions at 25mph has nothing to do with a dead kid.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Speed bumps don't slow people down!

They do make awesome places to get out of shape and wreck the car when you don't have a clue it's there.

Thankfully, I live in the northern country.

So, we have zero speed bumps on the streets. First time a plow hit them they'd be grinding them right back out.

Plus, we have real signs. They're not going to paint most things on the ground as it'll be buried a lot of the year anyways.

Now, train crossings... I remember being a teenager and seeing how far you could talk your buddy into launching his car. It quite literally made it 100x more unsafe adding that obstacle.

Dollars to donuts ==> the neighborhood residents complained about speeders on their road until the city installed the speed bumps. Now, they complain about the speed bumps that they hit while speeding in their neighborhood.

Did her son get hit on the sidewalk or in the yard? Oh, it was in the STREET, maybe she was depressed because she realized she was a shit parent that didn't teach her kid to look both ways or just fucking stay out of a busy street. That makes things quite a bit safer you know, for the children. Maybe you'll get to see the next kid get hit while laughing at an out of control vehicle that's absolutely not watching for anything in their way as they smash through that second bump. The bumps are only going to work for those already paying attention. You are a moron if you think that's making the street safer. Its terrible her kid got killed and Im only being snide about it because you don't seem to mind.

Thank you for the reply.

It was a quiet residential section of neighborhood, far away from any busy roads.

About 30 yards from a 4 way no stop intersection, this was and still is a popular spot for kids to play.

The reckless driver came around the corner way to fast. All the kids were able to get out of the way, except one.

I have no opinion about the bumps making the street any safer, or the circumstances surrounding the bumps install. I donā€™t care and have no bone in this fight.

I am simply laughing at the vid.

Thanks for confirming.

It is funny to watch, until you put a little bit of thought into, then it just pisses you off!

Yeah, fuck speed bumps, they slow traffic immediately before the bump and after.

Geez, some of you guys seem like triggered snowflakes. Do I really need to state the obvious to satisfy some?

Of course, these speed bumps look like something unusual and even dangerous that will not stand the test of time. That goes without saying.

So, for those of you who are triggered, you can rest easy tonight knowing that Lug Nut agrees.

Of course, this brings up a concern: Why are many around here so ready to go on the attack at the drop of a hat?

And I mean this in a nice way, maybe some outdoor endurance exercise would help?

Peace.
