Berger ammo is over rated and overpriced for sure

I've wondered about the impact of the Xero on precision rifle... Seems like guys that never had a chrono before are jumping on the bandwagon due to ease of use and size of the device, and we will probably see more and more people just leaving it mounted and getting data with every shot. Should be interesting.

Good point on that. Considering the ease of set up and no need for extra arms/extensions (Magneetospeed) might as well just leave it up and collecting the entire range time if desired. At least larger samples of data.

I tried 7 different brands of 6.5. The best and most consistent was Hornady, followed very closely by Federal.
I hope by Hornady you mean the ELD match and not the American Gunner ? ;)

I have never shot the preloaded Berger ammo like the OP posted, but have heard others talk about how awesome it is and how Berger uses some special powder measuring equipment so the shots are consistent, I guess all bullshit?

I wonder about this too…at least how it might change the conversation. I know I’ve chronied WAY more since I’ve owned it than I would have with the magnetospeed. Having 20 rounds over the sensor is nothing now.

If you are TRUELY testing your loads, these strings mean nothing. You need to compile a "string", comprised of all first shot, cold bore numbers. All fired under the exact same atmospheric conditions. Otherwise the changing conditions of the firearm ads variables unrelated to the load, making the numbers meaningless.

And since no one really uses their firearms that way, those true numbers are also meaningless.

For the sake of keeping with confirmation bias, choose the meaningless with the best ES/SD, so at least you can brag about. ;)

    Truely.

yep, found the problem right here

them MRADs cause the SD and ES to go crazy, did you have beans in your chili? That will make it worse

The only way to fix it now is to lay a shit ton of concrete and bench press 400 lbs

Idk man i won a case of sako trg 6.5 ammo and it hammered. Sd wasnt anything to brag about but i didnt miss any shots due to the ammo. Iys was nice to go to the range a few times without all the prep work
I shoot a metric fuck ton of Hornady match ammo for the simple reason that it requires zero time to be ready to go to the range. Can I make better ammo at home? Slightly. But it takes all goddamn day.

I’ve got a wall full of trophies from local matches won with factory ammo. I don’t think it makes a difference for 90% of the people. Maybe more than that. I heard a guy on a podcast recently say something to the effect of “don’t shoot Hornady factory ammo, that stuff is trash”. The only people that make statements like that are trying to sell something.

I agree. There's very few prs matchs that have targets too small for factory ammo. I mostly reload because im cheap and can have really good ammo for about half the cost without factoring in my labor.

Yup. I reload for some matches but keep a rifle up and running with whatever lot of factory I have for practice and as a just in case gun For when I’m too lazy to reload. Factory isn’t cheap but it’s expedient. And I’ve never missed a target because it was poorly loaded.
