Shot show 2024

Wow, just another typical SH thread lol

I saw KGM is back? Thought they liquidated their inventory and were closing shop after the Sierra 5 issues.

Haven't looked into anything SHOT related for KGM. But AFAIK, they were just stepping back from commercial/direct sales. They are still a huge OEM company. Unless something changed.

It's there. My guy mentioned its still micarta, with some coating. He'll chat up John-Kyle tomorrow and see if it's just painted or coated. or what.

Below it in the pic is the new comp stock. I don't think it has a name yet. Seems like a centurion with upgrades.

The cool thing about Foundation is that it had the form factor and aesthetics of a traditional stock, but with modern ergonomics and materials (micarta).

Now it's become kind of a chassis but not a chassis, and without the sexy form factor/aesthetics. Personally not a fan, but I know the PRS crowd will eat it up and they'll make a lot of sales.

I'll have to see one in person. But I'm personally inclined to agree.

I think this is more marketed towards customers who very much like Foundation products, specifically Foundation as a company, who use other fiberglass stocks due to the weight difference. This gives them the option to still have a very light stock while also supporting the company they like. And the micarta bedding block still keeps some DNA that foundation is known for.

Which is a perfectly fine opinion. Not every product has to do something incredibly different that other products.

My post was mostly in regards to the stock on the bottom of your picture.

But in regards to the fiberglass one, I really think Foundation needs to find a way to lighten their fiberglass (and their lightweight micarta stocks) without those molded in pockets on the exterior. I can't stand it, aesthetically. Looks cheap.

But again, that's just me :) I know many will buy those stocks as well.

Finally a vid that shows it.

So it was inspired by the Mark7's completely automated presses.

The only reason I would spend $2000 on a press is for automation. Good product though.

I was interested in what foundation was going for. If the stocks can take some sort of weight kit for their foreend, that's be great. Having an adjustable LOP system that starts off short would be great as well.

MDT JAE-700 G5 - Price drop to $1499.95 (got the price off a video, not from blog)

In addition to an updated MDT ACC Premier GEN 2, our engineers spent a lot of time working on our MDT JAE-700 chassis system. Upgrades include:
  • Integrated ARCA RAIL
  • Adjustable barricade stop
  • New forend to accommodate internal weights
  • An ACC Elite adjustable mag latch
  • The ability to use old JAllen Panels
  • Weight reduction in the buttstock.

For 2024, we will also offer our MDT TIMBR Frontier Stock with non-laminate wood for a traditional but modern look.

JAE price drop to $1500 is a pretty big discount

Don’t think they were selling at $2K.

That's my guess as well.

I love my JAE chassis' - they are excellent, and were well ahead of their time. No plans to replace them.

However, many other chassis' have caught up to the JAE in recent times, and at a much more reasonable price. When pricing out current chassis' options today, the JAE is a hard sell at $2k+.

Hopefully at the new price more people gravitate towards the JAE. It's an excellent chassis. IMO, the best one out there (of course there's some subjectivity to this).

As someone who replaces touchscreens all the time on automated equipment. The fact that the screen will be easily replaceable by the user is a very nice touch that I would love to see more companies adopt. I don’t have that annealer yet but I’d go touchscreen with no hesitation.
Wouldn’t that put you out of work?

I don't see any prime on press on this thing. Is that the case or does it have some priming mechanism that I am not seeing?
Pretty sure it doesn't have one.

I suppose theoretically, the mild modularity of the press can eventually lead to the development of add on parts or upgrades.

For instance with my imagination, I can think of extended lengths guide rods and linkages for longer cases, larger die gantry for 1 1/4" dies, the shell holder system design is a sliding piece/slotted piece and there is enough space at the back (from what I can tell) to design a slide in micrometer adjust priming mechanism that utilizes something like a Lee folding primer tray and combine that with something like an FW Arms hold down die for very consistent priming.

I think it would also be fairly easy to have a flat insert for the shell holder area, and then a seating head with digital or analog force gauge where the dies go.

Make it an arbor type seating press with a force gauge.

Definitely would be the simplest add on they could do that also synergizes well with their Infinity APS.

The OG JAE had wonderful height adjustment to the mag catch as well as fore/aft adjustment for the mag well.

Wonder why the change. Maybe for cost???

And built in ARCA seems to preclude putting a piece of pic rail on there which the OG version accommodated.

But that is a significant cost reduction. Down from $2k plus.

I'm assuming almost all of the changes were mostly to help cut costs. I'd imagine they had to make a choice of either using the JAE mag adjustments in all of their chassis, or use the ACC Elite adjustments. So they cut down on SKU's they have to manufacture.

Haven't seen the bottom of the forend, but I'd imagine there is a provision for pic rail despite the arca.

Starting at 9 min 35 for the JAE. This is the video where I found the pricing info. Screenshot of the bottom of the JAE G5. Would probably be better if they add a couple of MLOK slots to the ARCA.

It looks like for this of us with a lot of picatinny stuff will have to use a picatinny rail on an Arca clamp in cases like this.

Hadn't seen the bottom of it. Interesting they went with completely smooth bottom and no provisions for any pic rails.

Definitely cut as much as they could out to get the price down. Pretty sure there is no adjustment on the fit of the mag anymore.

That's a bummer for sure.

Made in Canada means it'd be an imported NFA item soooo restricted to agencies and SOT with demo letter, right?

Generally speaking, it's pretty hard to get approved to import a destructive device for any reason. There are other reasons than just agencies and such. But very limited. Usually something like R&D and such. If Cadex intended to sell something like this to US civilians, they'd need to set up shop inside the US.

Thanks for pointing that out. Forgot Cadex is completely a Canadian company.

14.5X114 was originally a Rooskie anti-tank round that became the KPV heavy machine gun after WWII. They were used primarily as AA guns (set up in a quad configuration). About 150% the energy of a M2. 1.5Mi is considered its effective range against armor and aircraft.

I would not have guessed this would be a "precision" round at all, but maybe there are piles of milsurp cases lying in the motherland?

Isn't 20mm and bigger considered a "destructive device" by Feds? For some reason that stuck in my mind, but maybe I'm making that up.
It's not made for peasants. It's made for militaries and it will most likely use modern rounds like a raufoss that already exist in the .50 but a bigger warhead for more payload. Strickly anti material unless there Is a target of opertunity.
