ok great, but it will still be the innocent taxpayers that have to foot the bill if they win.

While the rates go up on the innocent taxpayer's policy due to the increasing crime rate.
Insurance companies making record profits and not sharing it with the stock holders.
Interesting to watch the bubble increase but, Unsustainable

While true we should compare both ideas of what "democracy" means and see which we prefer. I think the answer is pretty simple.

Si.

The dem's are clearly sliding into the socialist/communist/oligarchy abyss.

The rep's are slowly inching toward authoritarianism/totalitarianism ... patriot act, banning machine guns, banning bump stocks and more.

They both suck, it's just a matter of which brand of suck you prefer.

I just put this in another thread but it seems appropriate here:

While on paper we are a representative republic the halls of congress operate like a mob rule democracy. That means popular (majority) vote by the politicians does indeed make the laws. The only thing that makes a representative republic viable in any government is when the morality of the elected officials cause them to really vote for the welfare of their constituents and represent those interests. This is not what we have currently - far from it. We effectively have a political class that is voting democratically to do what they please, which includes being told or coerced into that “uniparty democracy” environment. There is little representation beyond the minimum to give the illusion of representation so they can keep getting re-elected. But historical evidence clearly shows they vote in unison and apart from what the constituents want.

If we look at it in those terms we can see that a political-class democracy driven by outside and selfish interests is probably what we actually have because representation of the citizenry is no longer a primary goal of our elected officials. This also means that wherever the politicians steer the ship it is based on some other agenda that isn’t highly correlated to the will of the people.

The decline of morality, the absence of honor and a lack of willingness to serve the people instead of powerful interests is what has killed the representative republic. We have wound up with a federal democracy composed of snakes that has the entire bureaucratic employee base doing their bidding. The representative republic is dead - acknowledging that may help to give us a clearer picture of what is going on and where it is all headed.

Loved this post from the first paragraph.

I tend to believe this is applicable much farther back in the history of representation than is recognized.

I mentioned somewhere else this country was essentially founded by an oligarchy who made decisions based on very little representation from the voting population (chart below from a [sic] wiki article, take it for whatever).

I'm not saying that it was bad, just that's the way it was and, obviously, an awesome and fantabulous country was created as a result.

But it does demonstrate that "the will of the people" is not always what's best for the country and no matter what kind of government you have the people are benefactors or victims of the capacity for benevolence of the "leaders" and their ability to do what's necessary rather than what's popular.

Don't be fooled by the ginormous uptic essentially doubling voter turnout around the 1920s, I don't think the chart takes into account "eligible" voters and that's around the time women, et. al. gained the right to vote.

Babylon Bee Post. #4 was Brenda’s idea before I even read it to her.

#3 is not a joke. Though I have lived all my life in Louisiana, I was actually born in the south side of Chicago, where my grandparents had a thriving grocery store. I last visited, the area in 1980. It was a war zone, had all the appearances of a war zone, including burned out wrecks of buildings, and general destruction everywhere.

Want to see what urban warfare in the Ukraine or the Gaza Strip looks like but don’t want to go to the effort to get a passport and fly overseas…..grab a bunch of well armed friends, Rangers, or Special Forces fellows are the “preferred” friends, and visit the south side.

WASHINGTON (TND) — House Speaker Michael Johnson told his Republican colleagues he plans to hold a vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas soon.

Johnson shared his intentions in a letter he sent to colleagues on Friday.

"When we return next week, by necessity, the House Homeland Security Committee will move forward with Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas," he wrote. "A vote on the floor will be held as soon as possible thereafter."

stop talking about it and do it already. should have been done years ago.

Who ever the next president / administration is... They will never get America out of this sink hole.
The damage is irrepairable
Brac Base Closer’s but only those military bases off shore, realign the personnel back to North America. We are no longer going to be world police. Troubles with enlistment numbers, work with a smaller team closer to home. Besides maybe enough is enough with Mexico, we should impress upon them to better manage their criminals by actively participating with military forces restoring law and order For them.

Which army ? ;)
If they did it once, they'll do it again

After the United States entered World War II, amendments to the Selective Training and Service Act on December 20, 1941, made all men between the ages of 20 and 44 liable for military service, and required all men between the ages of 18 and 64 to register.

Downhill of course but we have a way to go before we hit rock bottom that would finally make someone or group stand up and act possibly . Until then just sit back and enjoy the show and don't forget to vote as the political-class laughs their ass off. American's have become a very submissive society ruled by the 535 oligarchy which controls the 332 million tax slaves. I wouldn't hold one's breath thinking that one day this would change anytime soon.......

No it doesn't. One side is corrupt and betrays their voters and their values.

The other embraces woke, corruption, and authoritarianism AS their values.

So, how many rinos will cave on the vote and hand the repubes yet another embarrassment ?

Is this legit? What general education level does a 50 on the ASVAB equate to?
Appears that a 50 would be a F (fail).

fine insight. we all know where it is going, nowhere good. term limits would have helped 20yr ago. too late now for that or anything else to fix any part of it.
