Sidearms & Scatterguns Coating options on custom 1911

Ha ha, a single stack in a OWB leather holster is the most comfortable carry in my opinion.

I did see a post the other day of a guy with a bone stock GI new/ reproduction Colt titled "Mailing the check today for my new 1911". I was like, "Jeez... Boring Clint Eastwood, save some pussy for Elon Musk".

No doubt it is very comfortable.

And a nice 1911 shoots like a dream.

Plus we know All American .45 beats commie 9mm all day long…..

Fudd Points if you wear Tony Lama’s and have your initials tooled on the back of your belt. 😉

Thats a very nice looking little Baer, BTW

Ion-Bond.

Had 2 agency rifles from the North West come in for their re-barrel/re-build rotation.
These particular 2 were built and shipped in 2016.

One rifle had >9,600 rds and the other >10,400 rds.

Rebarreled both, replaced small worn parts, New E-200 coating. Test firing today to ship back to agency.

Was assembling and as usual being impressed with how the IonBond surface finishes were performing.
In the 90's and 2000's I would pull the bolt body, firing pin, cocking piece and extractor from new actions and send out for Matte hard chrome or Robar's NP3 finish. Everything else would get CeraKote.

Around 2012, I started using IonBond for the same parts. I have been very impressed with the performance and this remains my standard SOP for new actions coming in.

Here is the parts with original IonBond from one of the 2016 rifles. (Per usual, the bolt body was masked off and new finish applied to the bolt handle). Edited to add: I didn't notice in the pic that this bolt body was still totally dry after the new E-200 cycle. Once wiped with oil, it looks damned near new.

Only downside is getting access to an company that will do guns for IonBond. With Chad from ClubCustoms out there are only few that actually will accept gun parts and most of those only do pistols.

Integrity Arms has the job. He's going to DLC the pistol and will have it back before mid-January. He's got a couple of pistols to do so I'm just getting in to a batch. His customer service seems great. Good communicator and helpful.
Your Baer looks awesome!!!

Whenever I need some small parts done I call him and he lets me know when to send them in to get in the batch he's working on.

@FWoo45 is the guy who suggested I check into Integrity Arms (Steve). He’d done a couple 1911 builds for him and both were finished in DLC.

Steve completed my gun near the end of last year. I am very pleased with all aspects of it.

DLC on this one.

I have DLC on a few other guns and they show zero holster use finish wear. Great stuff.
