Show off your Manners PRS-TCS Stocks

As an aside, and this isn't meant to offend anyone who may feel differently... but am I the only one who thinks the Sikes' clutch is dumb as hell..?

IMHO connecting one's support hand to the rifle is a fool's errand... no matter what, the rifle is going to move under recoil, period. So one can either let the rifle slide back a little and track smoothly under recoil making it easier to spot shots... or not... but no one is stopping shit, whether it's a little knob or one tries to epoxy on a full-size grab handle. I've tried different TCS' with and without back-to-back multiple times and the Sikes' clutch makes things worse every time for me. Try it...

I wish Manners would offer the old Badger Ordnance m-lok rails inlet/embedded up front instead... those might actually be useful for throwing on a pair of m-lok weights, etc.

I'm a big fan of the clutch. Although it's not about controlling recoil for me. Just like another poster said, it aids in steadying the rifle with a bag on especially wobbly props. I don't even have the actual inletted plate with multiple QD points just the normal 1 that it comes with and it's very helpful.

I do think they should offer inletted MLOK plates in the fore end. That'd be very useful I being able to add attachments.

I may be wrong on this so someone can correct me, but the point of the Clutch Knob is not to control recoil, it's about steadying the rifle. Shooting off barricades and obstacles it's nice to have an extra point of contact for stability to help stay on target. A lot of people hold their scope, some use the NV bridge, etc. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I've found it really nice to have.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about... IMHO, when shooting off a bag/prop (like with a Gamechanger/tank-trap), having one's support-hand connected to the rifle is actually kind of bad since it prevents the rifle from tracking smoothly rearward under recoil as we look through the scope...

While it may be effective as a handle, like if a smaller guy has trouble getting the rifle stable on barricades or whatever, I find the Sikes' clutch actually makes spotting shots worse/harder as it makes the recoil impulse "uglier" than it needs to be, especially in closer like ~400-500 yards when there isn't as much time-of-flight...

YMMV I guess...

@AirgunnerPCP & @CK1.0 - I'm assuming no one has tried this yet and I would be hesitant on a Manners, but they do sell M-Lok slots you can add to stocks. This specific product is for AKs (https://warsawwoodco.com/mlok-panel/), but should work on any stock you can machine the space out with. This wouldn't work for anyone running a full Sikes clutch rail, but if you didn't have one I think you could fit it in.

They have a full install guide. For a Composite stock I figured you'd just use mounting hardware that would bite into the stock or use a combination of hardware and resin to mount. https://warsawwoodco.com/blog/diy-mlok-panel-install-guide/

Grayboe sells a similar product but doesn't post detailed instructions on them: https://www.grayboe.com/products/m-lok-plate

You are right, it´s purpose is not to migitate Recoil, it is meant to steady the Rifle or your Position.
I´m pretty sure it´s not for everyone and you need to get used to it, like many other things in shooting.
Best part is, if you don´t like, you don´t have to use is at all and if you order a new Stock and don´t need it, you don´t have to pay extra money for it.

Yeah, I forget sometimes that there is a lot about this shit that is similar to guitar playing where some guys like Fenders and some guys Gibsons, thick strings vs thin, etc... I mean, some of the best guys out there in PRS hang off the top of their scopes...

10-22 disregard lol.

I looked into this over the summer but decided I didn't need it enough. I was going to use PMM SCAR rails

I don't think Manners will do it, at least not right now. They declined to inlet for a Henderson MLOK rail on the bottom. Also, did Badger stop making/selling their MLOK rails that Manners used to install?

Oh those PMM ones are pretty cool. Bookmarked them for later if needed.

The Badger Ordinance ones are showing out of stock on both their site and Manners.

So maybe they're not discontinued but I'd never seen those before.

BO used to sell a 6-slot rail too, but it's been OOS for at least 9 or 10 months.

I asked for an alternative on here & someone pointed me to the Henderson Precision RSR. Manners declined to inlet for it & Alamo Precision wanted to see the stock & rail before they committed to doing the work, so I abandoned all MLOK dreams & just had threaded inserts installed by Manners. I'll probably never use anything but an ARCA on that rifle anyways.

That's hilarious, I was just googling to find alternatives and came across the same thing. I should have checked my alerts here first 😅

They look like they're good quality. I emailed BO today to see if they're planning to bring back their rails so I'll let you know what they say if/when I hear back.

8 twist since I live in Colorado. If I lived at a lower altitude, I’d probably go 7.5 to run the 153’s. Sammi spec freebore, I believe he said he has the alpha 6.5cm reamer but it should be a sammi spec reamer. Just the fancy one lol

Appreciate the info. Figured 8t is good enough for us here in CO. Gonna roll up a batch of 153's this afternoon👍

Digging on the TCS!
Sorry to derail this thread, fuckerz.

What's the typical wait time for one of these?

I ordered my second TCS on 6/2/23 and just received an email from Manners today (2/5/24) that it's done and ready to ship and they needed payment, so right at 8 months.

Manners has told me they run their stock variants in batches, and depending on the production schedule when you place your order in your stock might be run in the current or next batch and be ready in 3 months, or it might be 10-12 months if your stock variant is a ways down the production schedule. I've ordered about 6 built to order stocks from Manners since 2012ish and having patience is a necessity, LOL

If you don't want a long wait, try and snag one that's in stock in the ready to ship page on Manners website, in stock at a dealer like Altus, or grab one off the PX here. I grabbed my first TCS off the PX here on a whim to try it and liked it so much I immediately ordered a second one in the exact color scheme that I wanted.

Buffed:

Sponge painted, still needs clear gloss

Picked up a tcs in matte back in black, wasn’t
really a fan so I started refinishing it myself. First step was to buff the entire stock to remove any imperfections and bring the luster up, then to sponge paint. Next step is to spray some 2k high gloss over it, but it hasn’t come in yet.

1.25”? What barrel length, and how does it balance out?

It's a 24 inch 1.20". Balances out really well. I have the older ARCA rail (21.7oz) and only have a single 3.2oz weight at the front (removed the other 4 weights). I can set it on a bag and give a solid smack left or right to the butt stock or moderate downward tap on the rear and it stays put. That's with both the heavy ass Razor or Arken on there. Balance point is about 2.5 inches in front of the mag well.

Whole setup weighs in at just under 19 lbs. I was hoping to be a tad under 18, but I'm okay with it for now. Eventually I plan to run a lighter scope and get the new rail which should shave off close to 1 lb.

I run the ones from anarchy outdoors, I have had the wiebad but I wasn’t a fan of it.

only cost about $40 in paint and an hour of time, not including the cure time. I wish i had more plain stocks to paint, i am tempted to go over my LRH stocks as well.
