Will the Coup De Grâce action accept Savage small shank barrels? Looking to maybe buy one if I can move my Criterion barrels over by just setting the head space via the nut.

Thanks!

Looks like a no go for small stuff... like my 223s...
  • We advise the use of conical breech barrels for case heads .473" and smaller

Feeding will be an issue but otherwise it’ll work fine, I have a takeoff Savage 223 barrel on my LA CDG right now

That's the impression I get... me thinks a Zermatt might be a better option/ direct fit.

Possibly, the 223 for me was the least concern as I’ll be single loading it vs mag feeding the 308 class and magnums
If you are single loading .308, you should have no issue. The cone is largely for feeding help from a mag.

I've tried savage small shank threaded barrels on my CDG in .308, 6.5 Creed, .260, and 6 dasher and all feed from AICS magpul magazines without issue. All of the above chambered without issue if I ran the bolt slow, fast, or anything in between. I haven't tried on a .223 though but interested if anyone has, not just in theory.

Just tried it with my .223 barrel (albeit a single shot sled not mag fed). It works fine if you put a little authority behind it, doesn’t have to be fast just can’t run it slow and lazy like.

Used a run of the mill lead tipped round at AR mag length which after repeated chambering was a little flattened out but I think with a regular copper jacketed bullet it should be fine.
