16-18 inch shorty rifles

Swapping the AG Composites Adjustable Hunter with SRS Hunters Rail Short for the Manners Pro Hunter. Amazing weight savings.

Mini chassis

I should have ordered mini chassis, I had it ordered for M5 DBM and the TL3 action but the pillars aren't bedded, cut or molded/shaped to the action. Looks like I'll have to get this over to a proper gunsmith to have this work done, bummer.

Ah. I was looking at the pic of the bare stock and didnt see it there. I was wondering how it was so light with the mini chassis.

Mini chassis is nice.
For a walking rifle I am digging that weight without it.

Stock Looks good. Post it up when you get it all wrapped up.

I'm curious to hear what everyone's experience is with any increase in decibel level going from a longer (22" to 24") down to sub 18" barrel length with these rifles? I'm really liking the shorter barrel for my next hunting rifle.

I went from 24" to 16.5" but I also shoot/hunt with suppressors 100% of the time. My main motivator for cutting the barrel down in the first place was to keep the length reasonable when suppressed.

Unfortunately I won't be hunting suppressed and as of last season I now hunt with electronic earmuffs so I don't think any increase will be an issue for me but just curious.

I think I have my 22CM in its final configuration.

Terminus Apollo Lite
Carbon6 17” 22CM
Manners PH
Dead Air LTi
NX8 2.5-20
Hawkins BM and low rings
TT Special

Slings 69 SMKs at 3340. 9lbs 4.5oz with suppressor and loaded mag. To me, I’m not sure there’s a better coyote gun out there.

How much velocity could I pick up on a 16” barrel going from 223ai to 22br shooting 53 vmax and 75 eldms? Have a new barrel waiting to get chambered and keep bouncing back and forth on the best choice for caliber. I have brass for both calibers would need a new bushing since I was shooting 6br but not a big deal.

Going to be for pdogs and coyotes.

I like the idea of the br so I can make a switch barrel to a 7/08 for hunting without buying a new bolt.

@RC556 or anyone with a Manners TCS, any idea on how light you can make the chassis? I see on website it’s 5.9 lbs. but curious if you can get it closer to 3.5 pounds?

I have no idea. If you find out please give me a shout. I have the A419 arca with removable weights but that’s additional from factory.

Switched my 16” 22creed from a Manners TCS to a KRG Whiskey 3 folder. The adjustability in the KRG just makes more sense for what I use this rig for. Also lost a little weight too!

Sold off some precision rifles to consolidate down to one, as my two kids aren't allowing me to shoot as much precision stuff. Pistol tend to be the main gig.

Origin Action
Preferred Barrels 18" M24 (6.5cm - 0.160" freebore)
Rex MG7 in .358 bore w/ Griffin micro break
TT Special
XLR Carbon Chassis (collapsible stock)
GGG Bipod
Steiner T6xi 3-18

Ok, got my scope, and a cheek rest added, comes out to ~8 3/4 lbs missing only a sling and 5 rounds, I think that's light enough for a 300 WSM. The 6.5 PRC Mag holds 4 down, and the balance point with can is right in front of the mag. I have 20 rds of 200gr ELDx and 20 rds of 168gr E-Tip, both over RL16 to try this weekend.

My primo Rust-Oleum paint job has already chipped in one spot, I probably need to go back and redo it with better prep (didn't sand or use a separate primer), or maybe try a better paint like Aluma-hyde.

Finally got around to installing my new barrel and stock on this action to get it to it's final-ish form. I'm probably going to sponge or pattern spray the stock with some alumahyde paint I have, and install an aluminum bottom metal at some point. Also I had to go with high rings with the WSM due to ejection interference with the windage knob, but the PRC cases seem to be ejecting lower, so I'm going to try to go back to mediums.

Tikka T3x
19" Carbon six 7mm PRC 1:8 Featherweight (cut factory barrel shown for comparison)
Stockys VG Carbon stock
Athlon Chinesium special in Sports match rings

Just waiting on glass.

Uihlauy.jpg

Was that sheep messin with your “girlfriend” or a planned hunt? 🤣

Nice euro BTW.

Where are you on weight with the rig sans glass and what you putting on it?

Im gonna get to test a LRH later this spring.
Hate spending $ and if that much better than my EH1 or GameWarden Edge I will have to do it…..
hows the length to trigger vs the EH1?
Their tac stocks are too far for my small hands

He scored 27.5, I'll take it for an unplanned hunt. He stepped out last year during deer season while I was taking a crap under the blind and I dropped him from 130 with a 300BLK 110gr. Considering the circumstances, my pants around my ankles and all, I rank that as one hell of a Aoudad hunt lol.

The glass is going to be an ATACR 4-16x42 so it'll add another 30oz. to the current weight of 7lb 11oz with AccurateMag, ARC M10 rings, and TBAC Ultra7 Gen 2. I am expecting a final weight of right around 9lbs with an empty mag, no bipod. No clue on trigger reach comparisons but I have average size hands and reach is not an issue.

That seems to happen a lot around here with blacktail deer, go to poo a buck shows up.

It never fails, every time I go to my boat stalls I have to take a crap, I really need to leave a Luggable Loo in there haha. I tell my wife I just need to remember to head over to the boat stall if I ever get backed up lol.

Imma send you some of them NASA diapers Moose
Like that crazy broad who drove straight through. To kill her boyfriend’s wife I think….

Just clean up later!

Also handy if your packin quarters and a grizz pops out real close. 🤣

Had mine out Saturday I have 170 thru this Bart 308. I took my 223 barrel off put this one on at the range and that's the first 10.

Shooting the 168gr Speers.
That group includes the cold bore in there somewhere. Cheap bullets no cleaning, no break in no load development, 'out dated' sfp scope .

Love this thing

I hear these all the time and I'm always curious how the hell an elk or whatever can't smell shit from 12yds away, regardless of where the wind is blowing.

The other theory is they're ok with the smell of shit and maybe thats almost an advantage lol
