I didn't realize that a SDN-6 would recess inside of a URX4.
It will. I ended up converting it to direct thread as it was annoying trying to get to the latch when I used it on multiple rifles. Now it lives in there.
This is fantastic news! Which length URX4 did you use?
Just put together this 18" non-free float beaut and she's shooting well under moa off the gas block mounted bipod. I can't believe it.

You can get 2 piece aluminum drop-ins of various designs. Here's one from Midwest Industries that requires a triangular end cap:
Centurion C4 rail will turn it into a free float. It clamps over the standard barrel nut. Or you can go old school kac m5 rail.

The top is a 6.5 grendel, Odin works 18” dmr barrel and bolt. FN upper and psa lower. Giessele trigger. Silencercentral banish 30 gold suppressor. Primary arms glx 3-18
The bottom is a 5.56, 16” BA premium black series barrel. Rainier lower and aero upper. Giessele trigger. Silencerco saker 556k suppressor. Vortex ffp 1-8 strike Eagle.

Forgive my ignorance, but what am I looking at here?
Some sort of machinegun-esque dual handle/trigger mechanism. With both hands in back, probably tripod mounted or something. Piston? Maybe AR lower.? Maybe.
I've never seen anything like this before.
Just looks like a standard Fightlite MCR upper on a lower with a home brewed spade grip/trigger in place of the stock.

I had to look that up. If this is the dual feed version.. 7 grand for an upper. A bit outta my range, but I can definitely see the appeal.
Bought it. Wise men company makes it, hot pocket rail wrap. They have a website. It’s made to shield your hand from heat on high rate fire guns, but in this case for a hunting rifle it also makes it nice to hold/grab when that aluminum is very cold.
Correct on the Fightlite MCR upper, incorrect on the lower, it’s not home made, it’s a KNS precision made product which for years I’ve said is one of the gayest ar accessories ever made, until I mates it to a Fightlite and is purpose driven to be vehicle mounted
A bit off topic since this really isn’t an AR, but just ordered one…gonna come in handy with the new SiCo Hybrid 46 that just got out of ATF jail today! It’s still free-floated, but a very snug fit on my PCC vs. the Rugged Obsidian that’s been under there the past year or so.
New 5.56 SBR built for an LE customer: BAD billet receiver set, rail, push pins, mag release, bolt release, safety, etc; Noveske 10.5" HFCL barrel with feed ramps contoured and polished; JP FMOS BCG, with bolt headspace checked at 1.4666"; Radian charging handle; TriggerTech Trigger; BCM MKII recoil system; SLR adjustable gas block; OSS flash hider; Aimpoint T-2 in 39mm QD mount.
Sharps Bros. "Livewire" forged lower with their billet upper. Criterion 13.9" barrel and Geissele MK16 rail. I'm liking the HK416-ish profile of the lower - Excellent bang for the buck here. You can see a new DLC coated Rogue Ops bolt carrier in the right side close up, too.

Running a brand new Flowthrough suppressor, first out of the factory (Infitech in Sweden).
Aimpoint Comp m5 (again, because Sweden).
The rest is a mix and match. Relly like the DFCO KungFu grip.
Nothing fancy, a Colt HBAR Elite with a Leupold Mark IV 6.5-20x50 with a Geissele SSA-E Large pin trigger, a Magpul buttstock and an Atlas bipod. Of course beside it is one of my M4s with an Eotech.
A quick trip to the range. Had to try the Aimpoint 3x magnifier. I really like this rifle.
