Hello Precision barrel experts.

Cleaned 10 times and fired 80 shots 6.5 creedmoor
Hammer forged barrel Howa 1500
Please find link to video and pictures. What is this damage? And also what is on minute 2.30?

Thank you!

So dont. The video is too big to attach it here.
I'm sure you're a good guy, and everything is fine. That said, I've "never" had an infected computer system primarily due to my "spidy-sense" about stuff like this. I'm sure I'm "over-careful". Going to a personal google-drive and opening a file from someone I don't know that sent me there from a "newbie" on a generally anonymous public forum ... well ... it's just my hang-ups but that's something I just don't do.

YEs I got it. But I have no way to share video.

The circumferential line appears to be near the muzzle and is probably a tooling mark is my best guess? How does it shoot? By the way having to unzip your pics is cray cray. Can you downsize the files and post them here?

Thanks. Unzip? Its not zipped. Thats probably how your PC downloads it. Tooling? seems rough. I thought I damaged it with my stupid cleaning routine I picked up for the "experts"

Him: “what’s in my barrel?”
Me: clicks link
Me: “….. dick pic” “shit”
Him: “got’em :D
Not so worried about the dick-pic ... but I'm terrified of the ...
Me: "Dick-pic just sent to everyone in my Contact list".

You have barrel worms as indicated by the many random looking little trails in 1708549824623 and 1708549805937. Bad deal.

Pic #3 is just a piece of lint or something, nothing to worry about.
I can't tell what is going on in Pic #2.

But, barrel worms...fortunately they are not contagious and your other firearms are PROBABLY safe at this point. I hope you can get them under control.

What you mean by that? Did I cause it or it came from factory?

What sort of groups were you shooting while you were shooting and cleaning? Is (or was) this an accurate rifle and have you noticed any sort of performance change?

Looks like it’s just pictures and video.
The squiggly lines just look like threads off of you patches or similar. It does NOT look like etched metal (barrel worms lol).

If I am seeing it right, at 2:30 in the vid there appears to be some copper. Please do not go full retard trying to get it out. A good solvent (I like Bore Tech Eliminator for general cleaning) will get out and lumpy deposits of copper. A bit of remaining copper wash is zero problem and you’ll likely do bad things to the barrel trying to get it out.

I can’t tell where the tool marks pic is at in the barrel…can you elaborate.

And the way to post too big of vids is to create a YT channel, upload them, and put the link into vid icon (looks like the pic icon but you need to hit the three dots to expand the icon bar).

Cheers

Thanks Baron. I am sorry I meant 2:26. This. What is this line? Boretech Eliminator is all I used.

Better read through that thread...

I think "lines" like that are from drilling the bore with a piece of swarf trapped on the drill bit. I have a few Rugers and a Howa with worse but they are very accurate.

No, not that one. That does look like what @Robert4 said. Some superficial scratches. There were others in first couple of pics that just looked like thread to me.

And the line seems like a scratch from when the barrel was rifled…but again, to me it looks superficial.

Better read through that thread...
I did read that thread…when it was alive and growing.

As I said just above here, to me the first few pics he posted looks like threads from a patch.

The one he posted just above and asked if I thought that was threads, I agree…it certainly doesn’t appear so to me. But it also doesn’t look to me like corrosive etching discussed in the thread you linked.

But, as oft asked….how does it shoot? That’s the key, right?

It shoots 0.5 moa 50% of the time eld match 140gr the other 50% of the time 1 moa.. The rest of factory ammo (I tried 10 different ones including the noseler and the Barnes) 1moa AT BEST

Its a cheap, rack grade, CHF barrel. What do you expect it to look like?

Cleaning a barrel 10 times in 80 shots, you are more likely to damage the barrel than help anything. Put 250 rounds down it, then clean it and see how it shoots. The fucking barrel isint even broken in yet.

Who knows why its shooting what it does? Is it equipment, is it you, ect.

Sounds like it shoots ok with shitty Hornady Ammo. Nosler and Barnes are both shit as well. Not seeing the problem.

What's non shit ammo may I ask?
