I’m 77. Was a PADI Master Instructor and IANTD Deep Air/Advanced Nitrox Instructor. Medicare, as best I can discern will not cover dive accidents. I’m going to start diving again later this year and will purchase DAN insurance. There are other companies that offer insurance and I believe will cover Technical Divers - Divemaster is one I believe.

My deepest dive was to 201 feet on air in a mine in West Virginia In 1993. Fun. Same mine where Edward Suarez Jr died in 1994.
interesting. am also 77 but haven't been even to snorkel depth in long time. did a 1 tank 200' dive on the cayman wall in about '78. got narced big time. another guy came down, smacked me on the head and pointed up. i was sooo stoned i was gonna go deeper. beat hash all to hell. didn't bend or embolize. sometimes young and stupid is lucky. never went below about 130 after that. most of my diving was spearing or shelling in 80 or less. great sport combined fishing and hunting. still have a pretty good size shell collection, most self collected.

Which is the thing I have to ponder when I hear all this talk about "Execution" by Nitrogen Gas that Missouri tried recently. I have to wonder if the condemned "Narc's out" just like we could have. When they did it recently in Missouri, I understand it took 25 minutes, but it all "went as expected" per the authorities. Of course, that won't satisfy the antis, but....

Did you watch the video in its entirety? I’m 49 and grew up in and around blue collar neighborhoods doing insanely stupid shit with my friends and never saw a parent act like such a goon in my life.
Is whipping a kid more painful than sitting in a court gallery, watching him getting sentenced to prison where the chances of him getting really beaten and/or raped is nearly 100%, or watching him laying in a box being lowered into the ground?

You definitely didn’t watch it. This was not a parent intervening in an effective way to curb dangerous behavior. It was a hood rat making a fool out of herself and her child well after any value had been learned from anything else she did. If this represents how you want the adults in your kid’s lives acting, then I feel sorry for them.

I watched it. I was also a deputy for ten years.
Growing up in a fatherless home is the largest contributing factor in growing up in poverty, criminality, drug and alcohol abuse, and mental health issues.
If fitlthy wefare whores spent more time teaching their ragamuffins to be productive adults, and less time running the streets slinging choochie like a t-shirt launcher at a ball game, their children wouldn't be sent to prison.

It’s no wonder why these kids grow up to be violent. 🤨
Bullshit

It's because nobody has ever held them accountable for any of their actions.
By looking at the ID on her chest, she had to take time off from work to go deal with the little shit and he'll remember it the next time he decides to act the fool.
At least he has someone in his corner willing to set him straight before he ends up in jail, or dead.

You sound like you would prefer he just get a stern look and a safe space.

When i was a deputy we had a woman bring in her 8yo child saying she can't handle him. She says he always defies her and that night he slapped her. Our chief asked her if she owned a belt. She said if she whipped him she'd be arrested for child abuse. Our chief said bull shit, if you look across the hall, you'll see a belt hanging over the coat rack in my office. You're free to use both to straighten him out. The lady said you can't be serious. The chief said I'm absolutely serious, take him in there and wear him out, it will prevent us from dealing with him when he's older. She absolutely wore him out, and we never heard a peep from them afterwards.
