New RF bino from Vectronix!!! Vector X

I have scoured the product pages. I am trying to figure out if each model with 8x 10x and 12x with DMR reticle. Has the appropriate scale for use with the range enhancers. It seems only the 12x model is shown. Can anyone confirm?

Looks like the MSR-DMR has dual reticles, one accurate for the base magnification and one accurate for the magnifier, while the MSR-SMR only has one simpler less cluttered reticle accurate for the base magnification.

The part of me that really liked the performance of my terrapins wants to buy these, while the part of me that read about all the horror stories of people trying to get vectronix to repair their damaged units says steer clear of these, lol

Happy vector x embargo date.

I have some more information about these to share as well as their preliminary spec sheets. Frank and I have been in contact with @Philip_at_Vectronix about this product and I will be doing a review of it later this year along the lines of the Leica Geovid pro and Sig 10k reviews a couple years ago.

The first thing to strike me about the Vector X's is that they will be competitive with the 10k's in maximum range. I had mentioned in the EDC podcast on electro-optics that me and Frank did a while back that there would be more such rangefinders following the 10k's and this is the first of those. Though the spec sheet lists the Vector X's as having a max range of 7k yds and not 10k yds, that max range is not a memory hard stop such as 3k meters appears to be on the Leica Geovid Pro's. The Vectors can return ranges further than that and I have been told they will match or perhaps slightly exceed the 10k's.

The second thing to strike me was the value of the Vector X's in the dual role of spotter / field binos. With the screw on "range enhancers" each of these models is boosted to 1.4x it's original magnification. This puts them squarely in spotter magnification range and, with the aid of the tripod adapter RRS is making and the dual reticle option (the left reticle is calibrated for base magnification and the right one for magnification with range enhancers) the Vector X's should make a magnificent spotting scope replacement. I understand most match guys are already using high powered binos in this role anyway. How much better to have the LRF and ballistic solution baked into that, especially in team matches. This struck me as a huge winning feature. Of course, without adding these things, the Vector X should perform quite well in a hunting role.

The next feature to strike me is that these Vector X's are supposed to have very good glass. Good enough that they are planning to also release a model that is just binoculars without the laser rangefinder that they are calling the Radical X. Somebody must have let Elon Musk in the product naming room. Good optical performance is a big win for both the spotter replacement and field glass roles and I am excited to test them out to see how they do optically.

The interface of the Vector X's interestes me. Most LRF binos have just two buttons which makes it pretty cumbersome to navigate menues. Even more so if the display is just a segmented LED with a bunch of weird acronyms you will never remeber. The Vector X's have a full D pad in addition to a ranging button for a total of 6 buttons to use in conjunction with a full AMOLED screen. It should be a dream to navigate menues and the D pad buttons also have shortcuts attached to them when not in the menue system for even quicker use on the clock. The interface of these binos seems to have been very carefully designed for the match shooter and I am looking forward to trying it out. I am also looking forward to trying out Vectronix applied ballistics app integration. I found the Sig version a bit clunky for non BDX system use and am hoping the Vectronix flavor will be an excellent UI.

I should also mention that these Vector X binos will be ready for integration with Calipso wind meters. I understand this will be ready at time of launch. I'm pretty stoked to try this out.

Lastly, the Vector X has a lot of choices in device integration. You can even leave the AB ecosystem if you want and do 4DOF or Trasol. You can also integrate the Vector X's with a lot of other devices such as garmin watches, the DRS gun mounted display, Kestrels, and the affor mentioned AB Calipso wind meter.

Got to play with them today. They are tits. Euro optic should be getting them in the next 3 months from what I was told. 5 year warranty on the hardware and 3 on the electronics. Any warranty issues will be handled by euro optic. This came from the rep when I spoke with him.

Kriller134, Since you had hands on with these at IWI, was the reticle etched in left/right eye and was the display in the same side?

Beam divergence conflict for 10x... Jim and EO show 1.8, this thread shows 1.5.

@Covertnoob5 any clarification?

Edit: answered.

Also, assuming the dimensions (height) is swapped between 8x and 10x on Jim's posted doc... i.e., the 8x is 164mm and 10x is 170mm?

Swarovorski will warranty their range finding binoculars for ever, Sig and Leica will as well...... as for Vectronix, I've got a PLRF 15 I'll send you to see if you can get them to repair it. Simple drop from my tripod broke the crystal loose and even though they service military units and parts available everywhere they won't repair it.... I'm willing to pay but their customer service is a joke.

Great products, fool me once shame on you.... fool me twice, shame on me!
Same here.....paper weight PLRF 15 due to non repair option.... Never touch anything Vectronix again!!

Kind of. The device will export Range and Azimuth but it will not export much else under the Vectronix TDH Protocol into non AB apps. It won't allow anything outside of that. The information cannot be transferred back into the binoculars outside the AB Ecosystem either, so its one way when using that. And, when exporting to the other apps the Binos will still display and function only in the Applied Ballistics system (Including they will continue to display the AB firing solutions), so they are still going to populate and function as the AB Solver when exporting to those, they just won't transfer any of the relevant data (Ballistics, Environmentals etc) and won't allow data to come back in from other sources.

The DMR is available with all mag ranges

It's a little late now, but for those of us that prefer less cluttered views but would still like 2 reticles valid at both magnifications for use with the magnifiers, I would have preferred a reticle with 2x simple "L" reticles like the SMR at the bottom of the field of view, one side for the base magnification and the other side for the magnifier attached, like this quick and dirty photo edit:

The DMR reticle certainly works, but clutters up the FOV near the center more than I like... At least in pics. Through the glass might be different.

Ordered, but their website states the warranty is from Date of purchase, and I'm taking that to mean when delivered/shipped.

Is there any documentation on the AB configurator? I have the app, but it's not intuitive and a link would be great to setup my Solar calypso.

Yes sir, I understand stand that. If you look at the reticle (DMR) the left and right show 12x and 17x scales. This for the 12x model. My question is. Do the other models have the appropriate scale correction. When using the range enhancers. I am assuming they do but I haven’t seen any reticle images of the 8x or 10x DMR’s.

Yes! All the models have individual scales for the Range Enhancers

Where are you seeing the option to order on their site? Anyone know where you can pre order. I have been looking for a good set of LRFs and these are exactly what I was hoping for

I went to EuroOptic directly, but I'm sure CS Tactical will a place for pre-orders soon too. I jumped the gun.
Just shot them an email, I’ve been a Euro customer for a while. Hopefully they’ll help me out as well.

Having worked with some other devices, I'm getting tired of paying for AB in each device.... My Kestrel, my Binos, and my watch. If they would make it available to other developers to take their calculated solution, we could quit doing everything bass ackwards in field matches. Look at the number of guys who still take their AB solution and have to write down elevation and wind for 6 targets on the clock. I don't mind paying for AB, the solver works. Paying for what amounts to a basic bluetooth protocol is crap.

I'd forgotton about the Vectronix debacle with warranty. That is a big red flag still.

Be interested to see how good the compass is to drop pins on the Basemap app

While I’m very excited about these, this 1000%. Good job on the mock up man. Maybe they would consider it. Hunters and PRS want less cluttered view but being able to add magnifier while hunting could be awesome but I don’t like the DMR reticles and placement.

Their website says 1.5 x 0.1 for 10x and 12x and 1.8 x 0.1 for 8x
The spec sheet I posted has preliminary stamped across it so presumably there is some stuff on it that may be non-final or at least not double checked. To further muddy the water, my notes from my conversation with on the subject with Philip say the 1.5x.1 is on the 8x and 10x with the 1.8x.11 on the 12x. When I shoot him an e-mail next I will be sure to ask for a clarification but I expect that since he is busy releasing this product at IWA right now, it will be a bit before he is on the forum or answering e-mails.

This was one of the things I asked. The compass sensor is +_ 5degrees on it's accuracy. Philip said this is the fancy good tiny compass sensor but not the much more accurate system they use in their military models to allow for weapon targeting. Outside, without a bunch of interference, the GPS component of the drop pin system will be quite good, 5 meters or so, as GPS is that way now days and the range measurement will be even better than that. It is the compass sensor that limits these things from a practical standpoint.

The binoculars look and feel amazing! Had a chance to play around with them a few months ago, we think they are going to perform awesome.

The RRS Vector-X Mount will be available upon release of the binoculars to the public, through Vectronix Distributors.

The "Vector-X Mount" was made specifically for/in conjunction with Vectronix for the tripod designed mounting ports. Includes a tension knob to remove cant caused by adjusting the Pupillary distance.

Attached are photos of the Pre-production testers.

Is there going to be a mount that will allow attachment to a Arca clamp? Since most users have Arca clamps on their tripods that would seem like a good option.

Edit: disregard, the wording on the RRS mount made me think it was a proprietary pattern not the standard 1.5” dovetail which should work with any Arca clamp

Roger that, I had a feeling some specs might be out of whack, often the case with brand new releases and trying to get information up in a hurry.

Almost feels like IWA has more to offer than SHOT these days when it used to be the other way around, at least these two are pretty close together so whatever was missed at SHOT is usually found at IWA...

Will the cinch work on the 12x? Looks like there might be enough room?
It will fit yes, but it will be at the extreme end of the housing. We looked at just offering the Cinch for it as it is already an item we have, but with the weight and location, the custom adapter was definitely a must.

I see "measuring time: <0.25 s".
Can anyone confirm that includes both range and solution in .25s?

Ordered with range extenders and RRS mount....almost 4k. Suprirsed to see Eurooptic charge my card already if it's still 5 months from release...

5 months ? Yikes. That’ll be tight for hunting season

I'm in the market for new RF binos. I really didn't want to spend ~$3k, but...
