Opinions on suppressor/projectile clearances

I just picked up a ruged alaskan 360 ti. It is "rated" for 338 lapua pressure, velocity, and powder charge. The actual aperture diameter on the end cap I measured is .410 who here would be comfortable shooting 375 h&h or 375 ruger through it for hunting; if it were yours?

.410-.375= .035
.035÷2= .0175 clearance around projectile.

You can purchase tight tolerance rods from McMaster Carr, several feet for a few bucks. Get the dimension you need to align the suppressor with bore. I have the std. Geissele sized alignment rods but have mad a number of others for different calibers.
Even Geissele instructions suggest with his alignment rod.....use "minute of eyeball" gauging to decide.

I think that's tight. But if your barrel threads/MD/suppressor, can all be verified concentric, well then you do you boo.

Seems .040 over would be damn close, even with precision machining: after a different makers barrel, MD, etc. Tolerance stacking definitely be what it is

I'd bet they said no, or didn't specify that particular caliber. That's why "rated for .338lm" was claimed

I spoke to 2 different people at rugged 1 said yes 1 said no, hence the question. I have no doubt it can handle the pressure of the load. It's purely a bore diameter issue that I'm concerned about. Looking at form 1 forums it looks like it would be on the tighter end of good to go. But if the consensus is it would be a bad idea then I'll probably look at something like a 9.3x62

Fair enough, you didn't indicate that you got two differing responses from the manufacterer.
My concern would be, if a bullet isn't perfectly stabilized, you'll have baffle strikes.
Better safe than sorry.
 
It is a combination of bullet clearance, and accuracy, to tight and accuracy sems to suffer. .070 seems to work very well as far as clearance and optimal accuracy. Also use a alignment rod to check your clearance.
 
Just my .02 but I wouldn’t.
Just knowing how shit works for me I’d ruin a suppressor.
 
Update. I have an AB can and love it I'll probably throw the alaskan on a 357 carbine. And just grab an AB raptor 375. Thanks for the replies everyone.
