AAC "SABRE BLADE BLACK TIP"

Tried some today out of a PSA 223 wylde upper. The 55gr blade tip would not cycle the gun and shot about a 2.5 inch group. The 75gr blade tip cycled, but would not do better than 2 inches. Tried some of the AAC OTM and both the 69 and 77grain loads shot right at an inch or just under. Sticking with the OTMs for my gun.

How did these perform on deer. I shot three with the aac tmk and it was very effective. Just would like to see real world terminal effects compared to the tmks

I shot a coyote at about 160 yards last night with the 55 grain black tips through my 18" ar. Hit right behind the shoulder, I could see the impact in the thermal. It spun around and ran away, couldn't find it. Was not able to even find blood on the ground this morning.

Was I unlucky enough to have the bullet not expand and pass through like I've read can happen on smk/tmk's sometimes? Or did the bullet blow up on the hide?

I've been getting really good accuracy (about 0.65 moa) but not sure what to expect from the 55 grain bullet as far as terminal performance.

We can’t know what happened, could have expanded inside and it’s laying dead 10ft from where you stopped looking. No way to know unless you do.

The constant problem with bullet critiques without a dead animal

Looked for blood for 45 min this morning and stopped because I had to get to work. The yote got into thick woods.

Just wondering if people have knowledge or experience on this bullets terminal performance

Aac 75 black tip did .6” and .7” out of 16” Pof and 18” seekins. I may buy a bunch more , I’m shooting terrible today that 140 group should be one hole. And half hungover. So that Aac stuff definitely is good for the price

Somebody got a deal on blue tape. 😆
Blue tape is a great way to put notes on a rifle without marring the surface or leaving residue. I put blue tape on guns when I clean them to denote they are clean. And, I replace it with tape to denote rifles are zeroed, and with what load. What Is the round count between cleanings? Put it on a piece of tape on the gun. No log book to lose.

Well I take back anything I said about the 55gr version. Dropped two yotes last night, they stopped in their tracks but I put a second round in each for good measure.

The 55gr seems to need a good shoulder/neck/bone shot on coyotes. I hit one in the rear leg bone and it blew up, the leg was left hanging by two thin pieces of skin.

Any updates on these as far as terminal performance? Curious if I should order some of these or 60gr Vmax for yotes out of my 14.5”

Starting a new thread instead of taking over another.

Has anyone tried these out yet? Results?
I have shot both the 77gr SMK and 75 HPBT with my Radian Model 1, 600 rounds no issues at all. Was getting sub MOA. In several 5 shot grounds got anywhere from .33 to .78. Pleased with it.

Sabre Blacktip 62 gr shot to same poi @ 100 yds as M855 for me. For reference, greentip shoots 2,770ish out of this barrel.

I've been running the 55gr Black tip Saber's and the 77gr OTM's in my LWRC DI with excellent results. .75MOA all day ammo in that rifle.

same for me, AAC 77gr OTM and a 16” LWRC IC is just over 1moa if i’m having a good day.

on a side note:
if the snappyness of the LW bothers you, you can drill extra vent holes in the piston cup to vent more gas early. i did this to both my IC’s.

its tool steel so i had a machinist do it. 3 extra holes offset from the original and on the side that vents sooner. i also did some experimenting with opening up the existing holes as well. it was about a toss up.

Mines a DI, so no issue there.

i bought 200 rounds of the 75gr black tips.

shot about 60 rounds thru 3 barrels with right at 1moa. no pressure issues either

will buy more later when my stash of 77gr OTM runs out

funny how some forums like to bad mouth the ASC ammo and others dont.

QC is spotty but i dont get the random pressure issues. lmt and geiselle barrels come up with pressure problems….um.
