Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

Poverty in the US is almost universally the result of laziness and/or poor life choices. That's why you see millions of illegals sneaking in, instead of millions of domestic poor sneaking out.
In what other country is the main health problem of the poor obesity?

So you're not going to apologize for buying a house when the market was cheap....creating the situation to inflate housing prices to astronomical levels, to increase your wealth while fucking over future generations?

And then blame laziness?

You sum up all that's wrong with much of society. It's called working hard. I was brought up on a poor council housing estate in the UK, I have worked hard, I have a nice house, cars, nice watches, firearms, go on one nice holiday per year and a few weekend breaks in the year, etc. I don't have as much wealth as some, but I have more than others, however, I won't apologise for studying/working hard, that's the problem with many these days, they want but won't work for it.

I was kind of with you until this. Same kind of thing happened to me and I'm an old millennial (1983) - Help me understand...

Bought our first house in Austin, Tx in 2009 for $130K. I was in a touring band and waited tables when not on the road. Mortgage & Insurance was $1K . Made improvements, stopped the band life, got a better job, got married, and sold for 160K in 2012

2012 moved out to burbs - new house is $230K - wife got promotions, I got new job that paid more. Sold that house in 2019 for $300K

2019 moved out to a couple acres in the hill country, modest 3/2 2400sq/ft house with a little 1 car detached shop - price was $450K. We are the smallest cheapest house in the hood. I get monthly reports that my house is worth double what I paid for it. Somehow I'm asshole if I don't sell to another millennial for what I paid for it?

Holy shit...all the boomers in here sure are getting riled up because they are finally being held accountable for the first time in their lives...😂😂😂

Man, y'all are so happy seeing your kids and grandkids struggle with the world you left them.....no wonder they don't visit you 😂
Yep, all that boomer privilege.

The market wasn't "cheap". I already said the house cost 3X what my annual salary was. I'm sure the man I bought the place from made a profit. I remodeled that house myself. I added onto that house myself. And I live in one of the most inbound places in the U.S. North Texas. That county I lived in for 40 years has seen a greater than 1000% increase in population. They ran me out of it. They can keep it. And they paid for their right to stay there. That's what controls the market, not me. It's called supply and demand. It is a thousands year old principle. Maybe you should try to educate yourself on the subject. But, I gather you do not possess the brain power to do so.

Once again, I am not going to apologize for taking advantage of American capitalism. Selling something for less than it is worth is pure stupidity. I sold in the height of the market. I priced it high, and came down once a week. The final buyer made me an offer, and I accepted it. No one held a gun to their heads.

Keep calling every generation "Boomer". It continues to make you look stupid. I already said that's my parents generation.

Oh, it didn't. But, it did start accelerating more rapidly back then. Actually, mid 60's. Vietnam was the primary catalyst.

I'd say national broadcast TV wasn't a small influence.

The propaganda was in nearly every living room by mid-early 60s along with the brain rot it brings.

"Working hard" to inflate the housing market more like it...but then again you DID have to do it uphill in the snow, both ways

...the guys who have to work 3 jobs to afford a $300k that you paid $100k for...THEY work hard.

But keep looking down on them while feeling smug about yourself....you got yours after all.
I have a GENX friend (hard worker from Kansas, single mother) with two boys.. probably 25 & 28 - both college educated. One (28) makes a great living (6 figure income) out in California and the other (25) can't seem to stop playing video games (not kidding) to go to work. I was talking with him one day about his current jobless situation. He had a great job at Garmin making more money than I did when I was his age (probably $50K) but thought he knew more than his boss and quit. Says he deserves 6 figures and will not accept a job that pays less than that. Every generation has its hard workers and assholes.

I had numerous motivations to work. When I was a kid, it was to buy play toys. When I became an adult, the biggest motivator became food..........

You act like I’m at your beck and call just because you have been in my mouth more than any of these guys! Pfffft

EACH generation has in their own way contributed to the current situation. EACH subsequent generation has had opportunities to improve or further fuck stuff up. For fucks sake move on to more boob pics.
I was fortunate enough to have depression era grandparents that I spent a lot of time with. Learned a lot from them, mostly how to be happy, resourceful, and optimistic. But my boomer parents didn’t learn from them - consumerism and me first attitude was fully entrenched in their generation.

Obligatory picture from Maui where I’m currently living the digital nomad life. Not all things are bad these days if you have a job you like and are good at.

When are y’all going to knock off the stupid shit. At this point I think you are just trying to aggravate the fat posters to see how many fatties you can have dropped on us. Nobody, and I mean nobody gives a flying fuck about your argument. I just never knew that there were that many of you stupid enough to argue in the Motivational picture thread. Get over it already. Like I‘ve said several times here recently, if it’s so important, go open a thread, and bitch and whine all day long. I’m even starting to appreciate posts by CB, and I NEVER thought I would say that.
