• Watch Out for Scammers!

We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!

SOLD Forster coax never opened

Talk about not knowing WTF is going on, WE DIDN'T EITHER! I would never trash someone if I didn't think he was the scammer, I did this to protect others from being scammed by whomever it was.

I apologized for the misunderstanding in PM, and i apologize here on the open forum.

My buddy is going to get the negative feedback taken down as well, I guess he just got fucked out of $325 dollars.

One thing that would help out in the classified is to mark your items sold and to whom, that locks the post up and doesn't allow scammers to sneak in which is exactly what happened in this case.

Or do your due diligence on who you are dealing with? A simple phone/video call would have helped out? Or double checking the profile… I’m sure the scammer had a newish profile.

No need for a shouting* match with all caps here…. Sorry you buddy got fucked. I had a potential buyer that was scammed but there was nothing I could have done. I had no idea he was chatting with someone impersonating me.

Just like you are asking seller to mark it as sold, how would that have helped your friend who publicly stated he was interested in the product? That’s gold for these scumbags.

At the end of the day, we are responsible for ourselves…. There’s plenty of posts about these scams and even a sticky at the top of this forum section. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/avoid-fraud-with-this-feature.7074703/

Like I said earlier, my buddy is not a forum guy, he did look at the scammers profile and saw no negative feedback. Just because a person has no feedback or is a newer account doesn't automatically make them scammer.

What he failed to catch was the . at the end of the impersonators user name which is pretty easy to do for older dudes that don't live on the internet.

Marking an item sold means its gone, period. SH has had a long standing of the first "I'll take it" in the open post gets the sale. If you go back and look, my buddy was the first person to do that. He assumed it was still available which made him easier to get scammed, see my point? The OP never once replied to this thread until yesterday, I'm not saying it's his fault at all but if it was marked sold in the open forums it closes that thread and doesn't allow scammers to come along later and screw someone.

People need to mark their shit as sold. It helps prevent scams and it keeps the PX from getting clogged up with "is this still for sale". It takes 2 seconds.

It takes 2 seconds for someone to look at a profile from someone sending a PM and see it's not a Supporter and has 0 posts so can't sell. People are in such a rush to buy they don't take two seconds to look. It's not all the seller's fault for not marking sold. You can just as easily PM him and ask.

Yeah and it's even faster to mark your shit sold!

Never once did anyone say it was the OPs fault that this whole thing happened but people marking their shit sold is definitely a tool to prevent scammers, any idiot can understand that.

Instead of focusing on who should have done what why don't we focus on the POS scammer and shutting them down along with making it harder for them.

Some people actually don't live on the internet and know all the ins and outs of scamming, it isn't always someone trying to quickly buy something.....

The haste at which members operate when they think they spotted a good deal or afraid someone may grab an item they’ve been looking for is the underlying issue for scams and always has been.

If someone’s spent anytime on the forum in the past several months they would know this is the #1 scam currently going. Make a fake account with a “.” Added to it.

Unfortunately people who don’t or can’t spend much time on the forum won’t recognize this and run past others pumping their brakes and right into the arms of a scammer.

No different than the countless times members and mods warn people about watching themselves in WTB ads.

For those saying to mark the item sold. There’s been countless times on here where members ask if the item has sold or is still available even though a thread is clearly marked sold or spf and updated to reflect it. The scammer still sees this person asking if it’s sold. They then pm in the same fashion as this and either it’s “no it’s still available” or “buyer backed out” etc. The person doesn’t question it and because the actual member hasn’t been on in a while the scammer makes short work of the buyer and it’s completed before the actual seller can head it off

If someone’s account is legit hacked. They have decent skills photoshopping and what not then I get it. Scammers are hard to spot then. But if someone’s still falling for this duplicate account scam this far along they need to step back learn a bit before they buy.

You don’t think we are trying to get rid of them? Of course we are but if people don’t take responsibility for their own actions and act smarter when knowing they are out there then nothing we can do to help that. These scammers impersonating sellers is not new.

Well you are his friend so why don’t you help him and teach him how not to get scammed seeing as you have all the answers on how to stop it?
