I see the Norma long range ammo is out. Has anyone tried it.

I bought 2 bricks of it from both BC and MGW. Showing up next week. I am not holding my breath waiting for it, but will try it.

This is far from a review, lol. I did shoot 1 box, same brick in each of 2 of my rifles yesterday in 43 deg temps. This was a 2 brick order form Bullet Central, I have no idea how to even find a lot# on the boxes, so no clue if the 2 bricks are the same.
We had been shooting paint cans at 400 yards, so rifles were somewhat zeroed up at that distance. We wasted 30 rds to season the barrel, and get a close POA-POI scenario. W/o chronoing, right off both rifles were 2 mils high, so definitely faster than the ammo we were running, and both these rifles the ammo comes out of the barrel over 1100 fps.
Actual target was a 6" plate at 400. Very little wind.
My 16tw Vudoo hit at or above 66%.
My 13tw Rim X was maybe around 25 %, and the vertical was atrocious, the exact opposite of what I expected with a faster tw, even though sample size small. Far from a true test, more like an observation.
I would like to pursue this lot or run of ammo for the Vudoo, but as fast as it sold out, pipe dream.
Another thing, the lube on this sample was nothing like the dipped in 90 wt Tac 22 garbage floating around.

Lot number is pressed into the end flap of the box.
Should be visible in an angled/reflected light source.

Y'er results are what I expected Milo, just based on price per cartridge.
It's not benchrest quality ammunition.

Hitting a 6” plate at 400y more than 66% is very good 👍

For all considered, I thought so too. Not getting into details on it, but I would pursue this lot of ammo, if for no reason other than to have a cheaper ammo to burn up.
My other 2 bricks from MGW came yesterday, diff lot# of course, but it looks like winter may be setting in finally, and my ass does not like 30 deg shooting.

If you browse Norma's website, this ammo is not listed today, not trying to rile things up, but makes me wonder why after 2 yrs, that a small sample made it to our market.

I've sporadically watched Norma's website over the last couple years and it seems like different versions of ammo disappear and show back up over time. Even the ever "popular" TAC-22 has been missing from their page occasionally.

That may make sense. I know when Norma was stand alone, they answered emails rather promptly, been awhile since I have tried. And they were rather free with the info they handed out.
I also recall that the amount of product entering the US was mostly controlled by the sole distributor out of Rapid City, SD. If things were not available to us, BHSS was the key.
I'd imagine, under RUAG it is different today.
I should not have speculated on this one w/o knowing, lol.

Priced higher than Lapua Super Long Range...must be the best ammo available!!!1! [/sarcasm]

A friend of mine finally got his Norma long range ammo. He said it is the best ammo he has shot in his 13 wt DI Precision Vudoo and his 16 tw Vudoo. Better than Lapua SLR and LR. Shooting sub MOA groups on steel out to 400yds and a few 1/2 moa at 200 yds and 300yds. Now I am going to get some to try. He talked to one of the ammo seller, they said, after Shot Show, it will be more available and the price should come down.

I've had a couple of lots of Norma's TAC-22 that shot mediocre groups at 50yds in a couple of my V22s, sometimes doing a bit better in a couple of CZ457s with Shilen ratchet bbls with EPS chambers, but shooting best in a couple of Anschutz 54 sporters. Their Match ammo varied quite a bit between lots & rifles, but generally didn't shoot much if any better than TAC. So I've been hesitant to dump $24+/box into trying their new Extreme LR ammo.

I found a fairly good lot of SK LR Match back several years ago when it hit the U.S. market - good enough to make me order a case of it, even though 5 out of 6 lots I tested weren't at all good. I've still got several bricks of that lot, because most of that case hasn't shot as well as the sample that I based the purchase on. Bought several bricks of Lapua LR last year, just because the supplier had that much left in stock, and it's not been really impressive in a couple of V22s. Will do more shooting with it in the Rim-X & Anschutz rifles this spring, as well as trying for a better tune with it in the two V22s that I have tuners on. We seldom shoot much farther than 220yds in the matches where I shoot, so there's not a lot of motivation to spend a lot of money & time on any of the 'LR' 22RF ammo I've seen to date. Time will tell, and I'll keep reading on our members' experiences with the current crop of LR ammo...
