He's a handsome specimen and sounds like a great horse. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. Not to be callous, but how do you lay a horse to rest?

Losing a beloved animal hits hard like losing other family. So sorry, but sounds like you gave him a great life and that’s all we can do for their very best existence!

My dad, me and my son. All 3 horses in this pic have moved to greener pastures. They say, if your lucky, you get one maybe two great horses in your life. That mare on the right was mine. I was there when she hit the ground.....trained her....chased cows and beautiful places with her for 26 years. She taught my wife and my kids to ride. Sure do miss her.......

Sorry for your loss. Animals close to us are like family. I have lost a cat and a dog. The cat I have now is 18 years old but she is still doing well. She does not run so much but she can walk fast when I am getting her a piece of chicken as a treat.

i understand your sense of loss even though i am not a horse guy. OT and doubt it will help you at this time, but, your knowledge of horses is and will be very valuable in the future i think.
the future that i and many here see will make the knowledge of breeding, raising, training and caring for horses most valuable as it was in past times.
you can take what you learned from and were taught by this guy to stand you in good stead later on.

When we were training, we had this happen too many times. The losses were enough to help drive us out of the horse business.

Still, loosing a good one never quits hurting.

My condolences
The smells, the sounds, the feel of a good horse under you working cattle.
You can't describe it, you have to know it first hand.
They become more than just a partner.
Sounds like you had a great one, my thoughts are with you tonight as you remember the good rides and times you shared
