Vorn Packs

They work pretty much as advertised. Best pack out there for carrying guns. The quick release system work for the most part. Sometimes the hooks will get hung up on a piccatiny rail or on the bottom of my MPA chassis. I have run the MPA chassis and a RACS chassis in both hunting and match environments and it is the best I have found. Light weight and just enough room for your gear. I recommend it.

I was between these and a Kuiu pack for a hunting rig. I ended up with Kuiu because I couldn't find enough reviews on the vorn. Glad to see its not a gimmick.

I’m running the big one and I like it. Had to spend some time getting comfortable with inserting the rifle but once I did, it became easy. I haven’t mastered stowing the rifle without taking the pack off one shoulder but it certainly releases with no problem. It’s very comfortable to wear, the material is high end, the stictching is top notch and the compartments are well thought out and accessible. Buy with confidence.

Just food for thought. All the rifle scabbard packs out there are very heavy for their load capacity. Some are not even designed to carry weight very well. When I need to carry real weight, like 100#'s of animal, plus some gear and a rifle, I want a pack that is as light as possible, while still providing a proper suspension and build quality to sustain that weight and be locked onto me correctly. The only way I have found to make this a reality, is buy a proper pack (your choice, but I like HPG and Kifaru quite a bit, though some of the K stuff gets up their in weight too) and then carry my rifle slung over me. A gunbearer can work too, but I fond that it unbalances my pack a bit too much and that I need a taller pack with really good load lifters to make it work well.

I have not tried the Vorn, and I would like to, but their listed weights for the CI size are a bit of a turn off.

If you don't need to carry real weight, or not very far, then I suppose none of that matters.

I think they are making a rifle scabbard now? If not, get them to. I would buy one for days other than long mtn hunting trips.

They are very affordable too!......

They do look nice, but I agree that they are to heavy. I will stick with kifaru, proven company and product.

I dont think that the material it's made of is strong enough. The shoulder straps and frame is well made, there is just no attachment point on the pack that I can see where you could attach a quarter from a large animal or a caped out head. It's just my opinion.

RMS gear on Kipling (traditional bow and hunting shop/range) has a couple frames and bags.
Great guys, not even close in knowledge to the guys at the Kifaru shop.
The Kifiru shop has a small showroom, awesome expert staff, and I was given a tour of the facility.

I am very happy with the money I spent. It carried better than any other pack I have owned, including old Dana Designs, gregory, arcteryx, etc.

I know the pack is a little on the heavy side, but I just couldn't pass it up for the price. The Lynx makes a great daypack size with the convenience of the QRR for quick access. If I plan on going deeper into the bush I think I'll have to consider other options.

The Deer is an even better deal at $152 off their regular price so only $227, but I felt the Deer was a bit too big for the majority of what I want to do in the field.

Lol you might want to consider a wagon

Vorn fox, Mcmillan stocked A-5 with Thor thermal on top. Makes it really tall.

I had to pry the bottom apart a bit but it still cinches down nicely. Carries really nice although
I'm not hauling much gear for local night hunts.

Any more updates from folks using these in the field? Are they at least as good as an Eberlestock?

How well does the rifle compartment work with large tactical rifles? Bipods, slings, AI's, AR's with scopes and bipods, etc...

@wjm308 and @lowlight , what did you think of the Lynx? I am considering one for a hunting/match pack. Any way to carry a folded carbon fiber tripod on the side opposite of your rifle?

Not too big, I carried a tripod with it in Colville and it worked great, I carried a Tripod at the CD match but used it more like a walking stick there, beat putting it away and pulling it out every 15 minutes

How did it handle your rifle? I am using a Manners style stock, 26" barrel with a break, and a Minox ZP5 5-25 scope that will be 16-18 lbs empty. Tired of fighting a slung rifle with a pack on.

I know these are new but I think some of you have already purchased and using them. How are you liking them so far? How have you liked the QRR system, is it truly easy to get the rifle out, and what about putting it back in, do you have to take the pack off to get the rifle back in or does it slip in pretty easy with the pack still on? Just giving an update on Vorn packs as there are not many North American distributors. Just acquired their EV45 pack from an Alberta, Canada distributor called Work n' Play, a sporting goods chain. Their Fox Creek, Alberta location was real helpful over the phone and ship to US with all the customs considerations in mind.

I bought the EV45 from Krale Shop in the Netherlands. All in with a rain cover and shipping it was $450. Shipping was crazy fast at 2.5 days.

I do have one complaint with the pack, the rifle carrying area is pretty narrow. My Grayboe Renegade stock forend is almost too wide to fit, and a scope with exposed turrets fits but not well. I have put 3 rifles in it to try with a Razor Gen2 3-18, Steiner P4Xi 4-16, and my Rem700 CDL 30-06 with a Gen1 Viper. They all fit with some persuasion but were pretty tight.

The adjustability to fit my torso and shoulders is very nice and easy, maybe they could have worked on making the rifle holding area adjustable for different rifle thicknesses. I'm going to order a Grayboe Phoenix 2 stock in the future, maybe it will fit better with a forend width of 1.76 inches instead of 2.35 like the Renegade.

Overall the pack is well made, and would suit a hunter well for deer or antelope. It may be a bit small for Elk or larger game.

I have an email in to Vorn Defense concerning the Vorn GARM pack, and if they will ship it to the USA.

Have to agree with you. The EV45 does not like tall windage turrets of any kind. It seems to like capped windage turrets one does not adjust. It also does not like ARs with the forward assist bulge on the side; moreover, forget about folders. They need to make the rifle storage area at least 2cm deeper. Its a pack you have to find the right rifle for versus the other way around. Like you said though, it is still a very well-made pack and your shipping (mine took 10 days) and price was better than mine from Alberta ($507) with no rain cover. In fairness, customer service was excellent from Work n' Play and I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

I did. Unfortunately they are not allowed to sell to anyone other than LEO and military.
