18" 22ARC

We just got in some Geissele 18" 6mm ARC rifles, and before ordering them, had several conversations with people who used them competitively, and in the field. Very impressive results, but I was examing the rifle and the results and did not ask about the ammo.

I ran a 18" 6 ARC for a bit. Was getting 2550ish with Hornady Black 105's. Using a Rainier Arms Ultramatch now and same ammo gets me 2610 or so. I will probably try to shoot a match with it before end of the year. It's shooting the 108 ELD M's pretty well.

Also curious on real world velocities for the 18” 22 ARC barrels.

I have an extra 6 ARC upper sitting around for use as a dedicated thermal rig. Now that 22 arc is out, I’d prefer to flatter trajectory at night and debating swapping the 6 arc barrel for a 22 arc

I’ve been thinking about a 16” 22ARC or maybe even a 14.5” pw suppressed for a thermal setup. Seems like it would be pretty flat shooting out to 300 yards with the appropriate bullet.

Any chance you could get me a good picture of the feed ramps on that Rainer 6 arc barrel?

I lost intrest in gas guns years ago but if i can build something in a small frame gun no longer than 18" and run heavier than 77gr at the right speed with factory i may build me something.

Curious on 22ARC velocities also. I’m thinking of picking up a ready to rock barrel from Craddock.

Max charge for CFE gave me 2690 fps
LVR 2710
TAC 2600
Staball 6.5 2450

I still want to try varget and staball match. I really wish someone would spec a powder with CFE223's burn rate with the temp coatings on it like staball. That would be best of both worlds.

RTR Craddock Precision 20" barrel with brake produced 2707 FPS average of 40 rounds Hornady 88 grain match.

18" Proof SS 22 ARC barrel and Hornady 88 ELD-M. Sample size 15 RD.

Brand new barrel - Will most definitely speed up. SD should come down.

Not an 18”, but for velocity comparison I’m running the Hornady 88’s in a Rainier Ultramatch 22” at 2764fps. In the factory offerings, there’s not a huge difference between the 18-22” barrels.

Hope to test the 85.5’s out with H4895 later this week. That combo should up the velocity just a bit.
