Night Vision The new Pulsar TELOS LRF XP50 is pretty awesome

Mine just shipped from Eurooptc so it looks like inventory is hitting stores.
Really? I literally just received a message from them 30 mins ago that said they haven’t received them yet 😂 I got hosed

Unfortunately, like the Helios, the Telos has inadequate eye relief of only 14mm. People who wear eyeglasses need more, preferably at least 17mm. High end binoculars and spotting scopes have had excellent eye relief for many years. The Swarovski ATX/STX scopes have eye relief of 20mm. At 14mm, I'm unable to see the full field of view through the Helios. I won't pay $4000 for a thermal imaging scope with the kind of inadequate eye relief we had to live with in the early 1960s, before the first Leitz B binoculars were introducted.

Yes
I placed my order quite some time back.

Not sure what number I was in the back order list.

Seems like they are arriving in small numbers.

Do you have a back order / pre order bmicek?

Yeah I was late compared to some guys. Back ordered mine Aug 31

I don’t know how many arrived on this 2 shipment.

I believe 2 came in on the first

I’m sure yours is getting close.

Euro optic has always been fair and easy to deal with.

I remember waiting for ever or so it seemed to get the Tikka T1x for a pre order so this preorder was a short wait.

I’m sure a wait that will be worth while.

Let us know when they email you the good news

I had an opportunity to do some side-by-side videos, totally unplanned so no tripods or anything.

It had been raining all day, then the sky cleared and night set. A family of fallow deer came to my salt stone.
It was about 30 meters away so I started recoring with 3 Pulsar devices.

The telos video looks nice
I received mine today non lrf

I really like the magnification adjustment ring
It’s quick and easy plus very smooth

The button layout is a perfect fit for me

I believe the lrf versions would not be as comfortable in my hands.
The lrf would be digging in to grip plus add more weightl

It is heavy for scanning
It seems front heavy
I wish it was balanced / weight was a little bit more towards the back

I only used the non-LRF for a brief while, and it was daytime.

But ironically the LRF may help, as I support my hand on it, so it kind of tips backwards and gets a better weight distribution. Hard to explain, perhaps because it kinds of contradicts itself but seems to work for me.

Looking forward to more videos from other places of the world.

I see and understand what you’re saying.
Maybe I’ll try out that upgradable feature lol

Nothing special just free handed but I took a few pictures yesterday with the telos.
I’ll set up my stream vision app and try to load the pictures here.

Hope you guys keep us updated with your thoughts (and use images hopefully) on the Telos as they start getting delivered.

I’ll try to get some comparisons between my axion 2 xg35 and the telos.

Here is the weight difference on my scales.

Both are great choices.
It just depends on the task at hand.
My XG gives me very good identification and I can view for extended periods of time without in fatigue,

The telos does have a better picture but does come at a higher cost weight and is a bigger scanner to pack.

I believe if you was trying to identify at longer ranges or a bigger field of view then maybe.

I will say that during the nuc/calibration of the telos it is louder. I believe that if a animal was close enough it would for sure hear it but then again it should be shoot by then too.

I do really like the layout of the telos buttons, magnification ring, and the focus ring.

In conclusion I still have the XG.
I thought once I got the telos I would be selling my Axion.
Not yet.

Where did you buy your Telos?

Anyone have any more use pictures? Any deals on these at the moment?

Deals on a new Pulsar? Typically not, not at least in Europe.

I came by a moose cow and her calf a few months ago. The calf tasted great (I didn't shoot it, but I know her ho did).

Mike,
I recently purchased one.
The image it shows looks really good in ideal thermal conditions. Looks good overall. Of course it degrades in humidity, fog and rain but its still decent.
One of the big features of the unit is the LRF and for some reason you dont see much video of it in use. I think I know why.

When you activate the LRF it also brings up the PIP which takes up i’d say 20% of the screen. Not a deal breaker but i’d like the option to not see the PIP with the LRF activated.

Whats really cool is the turn zoom on the objective. Its way better then mashing buttons to zoom in.

As far as a deal, I havent seen any. The best I found was a free spare battery.

Dont be concerned about the image quality. This unit doesnt disappoint in that regard. I would buy it again and recommend it.

This is my first unit so take that for what it is worth. The unit doesn't disappoint either. I have used it to spot elk/deer out to 2K yards. It also picked up Coyotes out to 1100yds. I forget if it can go that far but it spots them. Id say the identification where you can see antlers on a bull is about 800-1000 yards and its wild how much detail you get at 500yds +/-. My application was for long distance search and this is it for me. at 300yds, I can almost see he hair on my dog.

Anybody having problems with theirs?

Seems like every time I turn mine on the battery is dead.

I always shut it completely off after use and carry it in the protective case.

Trying to figure out if I have a bad battery or defective thermal?

Agreed, mine works great. I got about 7 hours of continuous run time with mine a few weekends ago.

The telos looks to be a nice upgrade but I'll hold on to my Pulsar Axion 2 LRF XG35 for a while longer.

Looks like my battery went bad. Charged today and just went out - units dead. Plugging battery in and I get a red light , which according to the manual, it signifies a defective battery. I guess I’ll be scanning with my rifle tonight.

That’s exactly what mine does.

They told me to upgrade firmware. Haven’t had time yet. But gonna try it.

I would try that but I can’t get the unit to even power on now. Pulsar said they’d send a new battery, so hopefully it’ll be soon.

I have the Telos XL50 now with the HD sensor.

Weather has been very poor with very little sun and more rain and snow.

With those conditions the XP50 beats the XL50, with 18 vs 40 in NETD.

Sensitivity beats pixels, but it may differ depending on where you live.

First image from the upcoming Telos LRF XL50.
Pretty poor conditions so far, with everything being the same temperature.
Then came a fox...

These are just screen shots from a video, and I get some interlacing between frames.

71 meters and other one is roughly 225 meters - I think. Bush in between as you can see. Everything handheld.

These videos are actually a bit better than I remember, to my defense I was probably a bit drunk. :D
