Shot a couple coyotes with them and my wife shot a doe a 420 yards.

Lack of killing, 4 out of 5 coyote in 1 night needed a second round or ran off. I hunt alot of contests and need DRT
Did they splash on impact and simply not penetrate? I was planning on running them in an 18” 22-250 for coyotes at around 3300 or so.

I have finally spun the 223 barrel onto my Origin action to play with the 62g ELD-VT bullets. I loaded up with CFE223 Powder and started LOW and worked up in 2 shots just to see velocity and how the rifle reacted. at 27g I hit a good number and no where near pressure signs. I believe I can get to 28.5g of powder and be below 62k PSI mark. I loaded up 4 rounds at 27.2, 27.4 & 27.6 to see what it does next and to check groups at 200y.

20" 1-7T
Seating depth is 2.45 in an MDT Mag. Hornady brass, Winchester SRP.

What length barrel and how was the accuracy. I just ordered 500 of these to try in my 26” 223 and my new 16” 22br

This is a 20" barrel & it was 1 hole at 80y. That is all I can shoot at the house. I'll be at the Club on Sunday and be able to test them at 200.

I have a 22 ARC with fast twist barrel coming....
In the meantime, I tried the 62's in my 9 twist 20" Bergara 22-250, and the results were not pretty. If I remember, it was like 34 grains of Varget and .050 Jump....that's all I've tried so far.

The results surprised me as this rifle shoots bullets 53 grains on up to 60's very good.

That's not super surprising. These are much longer that your typical 62 grain bullet and length is a huge factor in stability in relation to twist.

My 223 bolt gun has a 26 inch 7.7 twist barrel. I'm loading the 62 ELD-VT at 2.417. I'll be getting to the range Thursday of next week. These are loaded with some left over BLC2. I have some benchmark, LVR and CFE223 to try as well.
I just wish I could find some 8208 and power pro varmint.

You’re not alone! Guy in the PX is selling some 8208 for almost $65/lb. That’s madness IMO, so I’ve essentially written it off. I’d consider it at the $40-50/lb most other good powders are going for, but it’s never in stock. Shame, because it’s supposed to be amazing stuff but apparently demand isn’t enough to even bother with 8lb iugs anymore, they only make the single pounders.

Anyway, following this with interest!

I’m convinced benchmark is xbr fwiw. It’s so close in my rifles. It looks the same, it smells the same, it runs the same charges or roughly atleast.

I hope you are right. Bencmark is on the short list of stuff you can actually find. Not real often, but you can find it.

Running 27.0 grains of Varget with this bullet in my 223. It’s yielding 3300 fps in my 26” tube and shooting around 1/2 MOA.

I’m excited to try them out at distance and on some little varmints.

What is the distance from lands for your load? I tried from .020 off - .040 in a gas gun and nothing great happened. I think they may like being close or in the lands.

I’m running mine at the same die setting as my 75 ELDM load and it rifes the same base to ogive measurement too. It puts the end of the bearing surface right above the neck/shoulder junction but I don’t red all how far off the lands they are.

I’m .010 off with the 62s, but I’m also at jam with the front of the bearing surface .020 from the case mouth, so I don’t have much to work with.

Luckily both 62 eldvt and 75 eldm shoot awesome there

I got my first chance at a rock chuck with this bullet. I missed my first shot low but settled in on the second shot a few minutes later and got him taken care of. I was hoping for a more dramatic video but I needed him to perch up higher to hit him in a better spot to turn him into an acrobat.

I did take this load out for 15 rounds at 100 yards and it held 1 MOA for all 15 rounds shot over an hour timespan. Not superbly accurate but plenty serviceable for what I want them to do. 5 shot groups are usually around 1/2 moa with almost no load work up.
