Why don't Harley riders use their front brakes?
Would you rather go over the handlebars and through the windshield or off the side?
Harley antilock brakes teach bad habits. Over 30 mph using either brake applies a 60/40 braking. Some people have never ridden a bike without antilock brakes and don't know what threshold braking is.

You're not going over the handlebars.

Just goes to show that Harley riders really do seem to be some of the least practiced riders.

ABS on bikes… no thanks.

I know… I am old.

But so are my bikes! So there.

Surely, at some point, there was someone who said;

“ABS automobile brakes? That’s a TERRIBLE idea…”

“Power steering? Ugh.”

“Drum brakes are fine.”

“Manual cranks are a great way to loosen up in the morning...”

“Automobiles are dumb. They’ll never be as reliable as a horse…”

“Nope, not getting on that thing. He can pull my chariot. Thank you very much...”

“Wheels? Sound dangerous. Just drag it across the ground like a normal person…”

Good lord was the Internet just invented yesterday? ;-)

Long lasting buildings? Laughing in Latin. Wait, I don’t speak Latin. Still laughing.

Rome wasn’t built in a day… or by broads.

It was built by Romans before they drank water from lead pipes for 2000 years and became Italians. Have you seen those people try and drive!

Gorlami!

Many years ago, I took my new wife to Italy for a honeymoon. At the airport we were picked up by the hotel's sedan (BMW?); I sat her in the front passenger seat. I lived in Europe for seven years, so I knew what to expect - Italians ignoring all laws, rules, signs, narrow streets, splitting lanes (in cars), surrounding your vehicle at a traffic light to beat you across the intersection, etc. Once we arrived at the hotel you should have seen her face! I thought nothing scares this woman; at 4'11" her preferred weapon is a knife which she knows how to use it! Last year I took her to southern Italy - Sorento, Naples, Almafi Coast, etc. I'm told the Romans and Italians living further north are afraid to drive in southern Italy.

It is easy to look at well proven tech and say well how stupid would you have to be to be against this stuff. At the time these things came out it was cutting edge. Hand cranking an engine could kill you, having an electric starter could also burn your car to the ground. Mechanical brakes will never leak....on in on.

You can look at the "auto drive, or auto pilot" some cars have for an example of current tech not quite ready for prime time. There will be a day when it would be a no brainer to have the computer drive you where you want to go, but that time is not yet.

A good rider will never see ABS engage. It's a safety and panic feature that has been proven over and over again to stop the bike faster than you can. You're free to dislike it all you want, but ABS on bikes does save lives just like it does in cars.

Sugar or high fructose corn syrup and the other substituted chemical compounds?
^^^ cane sugar advocates....worse than a bunch of vegans.

JK brother....but....we eat way too much ANY sugar for a society.
My mother told stories of what a treat it was to get an orange at Christmas. Those are true stories BTW. We make fun of some of those stories at our peril.
Now we feed our kids a steady diet of fruit juice and fresh fruit. Sugar in any form, every day is a bad thing, even if it is fruit.

I'm no Saint, I know its bad for me...but I just can't quit it.
My latest guilty pleasure is medjool dates.....and a cold glass of milk.

I gotta get back on the hard core keto. Sugar addiction is a real thing.

Love that movie.

Not only does/did my BMW have ABS, it has power brakes too!

Don't like em, but I'm pretty well stuck with them.

My 2nd BMW was an 07 GS-Adv that I special ordered without the ABS. My first R1150RT's ABS kicked off on the washboard down the street from my house sending me sailing thru the stop sign. Again.
