I do think I've been lucky in my years. I could be dead a hundred times over but I I ain't...knock on wood.

Anyhow I was reading something on here and it oddly reminded me of a story one of my girlfriends told me. Went to high school together, but this happened maybe a year before we started dating. She was about 21 and crashed her car in the ditch out in front of this old couples home. She ended upside down in her car with it resting at maybe a 60 degree angle with her open drivers side window pointing to the sky.

The old man ran out as fast as he could and bent down saying exactly what you'd expect. "OMG are you okay!" All that sort of stuff. But he cut it off cold...for about ah shit, I don't recall...let's just say 15-20 seconds. Why you ask? I'm fixin' ta tell ya. Well she's a young very attractive gal. All the goodies. Cute face. Perky tits. Nice ass, the works. She's wriggling around fiddle fucking with her seatbelt, but she can't get it unbuckled. So she's in there struggling and when he gets down to where he can see her, her sundress is doing what you'd expect when a gal is upside down. And she ain't wearing a bra nor panties. LOL. My man got himself a good old fashioned eyeful.

I always wondered whether he kinda sat there in disbelief, or if he was pulling the old mental pictures bit.

So yeah, I don't know if I've been comparably lucky to the older gentleman described in my tale above, but I've definitely had my moments.

I have believe for many decades the man upstairs has a plan for me. He has not allowed me to live thru all my self imposed stupid, or other ventures he has protected me from, for nothing. Wish I knew what it was, but I know he will point it out at some point. I just hope I do not disappoint him, as he has always come thru for me.

Luck?...Sometimes ya need a miracle.
Ordinary people sometimes get one.

I was the only person in the state to ever survive this type of aneurysms, at 38 yrs old. I too died, for awhile.
I have almost doubled that, in my second life.
And celebrate the anniversary of my first death, a dark, very different, but very comfortable state.
Coming back, at first, I did not know my name...no concept of time, or who I was.
A complete new start, with some new limitations, to overcome.

Considering the crap table of life, all the odds out there, I’ve been lucky considering the stories I hear.
My story (stories) are numerous..…so nah....I’m not tempting fate at this point...I’ll keep them to myself. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You mean like 11 bullets holes tagging your clothes in, out, in out, but none connected with flesh, ...that was an accident?
Stepping on a rattlesnake, 2.5 hrs from treatment, another accident.
The guy in the backseat pulls a revolver and fires 2 times, missing both times, before the driver hits the gas, and speeds off, definitely not an accident.
Surrounded by 6 guys (river rats gang) with chains, who declare they are going to make you bleed MFer. Then hunting you all summer when you get away...you need a distraction, fight, and run...fast.
A blade to the throat, head smacked with bat, and claw hammer, in different fights, shot at numerous times, raining twigs, branches, and leaves while the bullets are zipping by, some popping off the water, glancing up.
Sometimes ya gotta pull the gun or put a bullet close to them, just to stop the violence.
Gangbangers, are ruthless.
Rural or city, ya never call the law.
Just part of growing up in poor America, then the government sends the survivors off to war.
The level of income really matters,
And I can not discuss the bad parts, not all murderers are caught, and the police can not protect you.
The response times are an hour or 2.5 hrs on one case...if they come at all. Your best bet is to move elsewhere as soon as possible, when your income improves.
I don't believe that part of America has improved, it was an experience, life and existence was random.

That's not bad luck. That's bad choosing of your affiliates.

A little bit of everything. The only reason I'm still alive is by an explanation that non-believers cannot understand, and I'm fine with that. I am blessed, and thankful for every day on this earth because I don't deserve to be here. When I am further blessed with the opportunity to occasionally speak to congregations on Sundays or at revivals, I share my experience...I believe that is why I was allowed to live.

Now, I also have some of the worst consumer luck known to mankind. If there are 100 of the exact same item in a pile for sale...I will always manage to buy the only one with issues.

Same with hunting, although it is more 90/10 (bad/good). I catch my deers...but I should keep a tracker of how many times my target bucks cross under a different stand than the one I was in on a particular day. Or the cows come visit me. Or my neighbor shoots the buck on its travels to me. Etc... Etc... The good 10% though is pretty epic. A few years ago I filled all three of my rifle tags in about 6 seconds, to include my target buck. Three shots and three stone cold bodies in a meadow as fast as I could work the bolt and swing the rifle...then after about another 6 seconds I realized I had to dress and butcher all of them that night. Come to think of it - I don't know if that was good luck or not 😄.

You don't choose them...you don't know them, and you have never met them.
Since you don't belong to a gang, and are a new kid, in a poor area, of the town and soon your dad will get another job in a different city, to try to move up the social ladder, with an 8th grade education.
These guys spot you, and will introduce themselves to you, they like to intimidate and slap you around, mostly, pull a blade let ya who's boss...depends how you react, what you say...sometimes you walk away, just slapped around, sometimes the fuck you up, depending on how they feel.
They like to see fear.
Call the cops and indenify them, will get you killed. They will threaten your whole family, even if you are an adult, which was the taeget when he went to police after a severe beating infront of his wife and daughter, whom they threatened if he went to the cops.
He did, thinking he would get some justice.
In broad daylight, no one saw a thing, as he was cut to pieces with two guys welding blades, stabbed his face, knocking out teeth, stabbed his chest, one the heart sack, ...then played tick tak toe on his chest with X's and O's.
He survived after 2 months in the hospital.
No one was ever arrested.
The police told him to leave town, they could not protect him...he left the state.
Most have no idea, guns are now more prevalent, just some horrible news on TV, but lots of people live it...
I was lucky enough to get out, fairly early, and moved alot, some places better some worse. Ist day of school a teacher was stabbed, the 2nd day a replacement teacher was fighting if a kid with a knife in PE and survived the fight in my class.
I was threatened that very day...same class.
The school had severe discipline. To try to curb the violence. I Wasn't there but for a few months, no friends, I was happy to leave the state.

Id say anyone living in this country is pretty lucky. We all have shitty luck at times, but most everyone has food, shelter, healthcare, and less corruption than a lot of countries. Most all of us can sleep without fear. I think we are all lucky. Not a lot of people crossing into Mexico for a better life.

I found out pretty early on I don't have any real fear and proceeded to do some real daredevil stunts as a kid. I've worked some sketchy jobs like hanging out high-rise windows installing hurricane shutters in S-FL.
I still have 2 eyes & 10 fingers, and 3 grandkids!

They are they are crossing two Mexican borders but its for handouts. The people who came here before illegals could get welfare came here to work for a better life and in many instances were preyed upon by greedy people. Paid next to nothing, exploited by loan sharks to by cars and stuff. Now it's like a fairy tail. Yep a seemingly never ending supply of free money, health care, housing, education, and electronics.

I had a big, long response typed out on why I’d have no luck if it weren’t for bad luck, but I don’t think the personal details are necessary here. But life’s pretty dark and I’m pretty bitter lately, and I don’t see a way for that to change anytime soon.

But I keep fighting out of pure hatred and spite. Fuck ‘em.

Illegitimi non carborundum.

As a child, I had severe asthma. Hospital visits. Allergy shots. My heart was enlarged and I was getting damage to my lungs. The doctor told my mother that puberty would be the end of me because of the demands on the body.

Still here, though I had asthma and medical treatments until I was 20. So, that prevented me from being to serve in the military, as most of my family had done.

I've had 2 boom lifts try to kill me, and fallen off 2 roofs.

Only ever broken a finger on the dirtbike.

But I've probably bought 2 AIs worth of gun raffle tickets and never won a single thing.

if I was a cat I’d have 5 lives left, at least that’s what the doctor told me .

Another bit of luck I had, which got me talking to God again.

In 2021, my wife fell in the kitchen July 4th. Broken femur, near the top, considered a hip fracture.

She gets admitted and scheduled for orthopedic surgery. They get her a room and take blood. Her potassium, sodium, and magnesium were low (a problem she has had off and on before.) So, she goes to ICU where they adjust and monitor levels. She gets the surgery. And they are ready to let her go after the next weekend. And I do not have a plan, no insurance, she did not have Medicare going. So, that Saturday before the Monday they would discharge her, she starts showing aphasic behavior. And then, she gets a CAT scan. Nothing.

Comes back to the room. And slowly becomes non-responsive. And then shaking. I poked my head out and said she was shaking."

"No, that's a full on seizure! Call a code stroke!"

They give her a shot of Ativan, which knocks her out. And then her breathing becomes ragged. They shuffle me off to a waiting room.

They entubate her and install an NG tube for feeding and whatever meds can be digested. Most of July, she does not wake up. The doctors decide install a tracheostomy tube below the larynx. Regular tubes have lots of surface for infections.

Her levels finally stabilize and they get her to a regular room and she is starting to come out of it. Then, overnight one night, unknown to me, she gets a mucus blockage in her trache tube and stops breathing. And then goes into Code Blue. This means her pulse has stopped. They perform chest compressions and that gets her pulse started again. And collapses her left lung (a risk in any CPR.)

So, they install a chest tube for that and change her IV to a central line. Another few weeks pass and they decide that the NG can also be a source of infection and install a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube into her stomach. This makes it easier to feed bags of food and administer some of the medications.

It goes on from there but basically, I am lucky she survived the Code Blue. That is when I started thanking God again.

I have the very best fuck out there, just ask your old lady, your sister, your mom.......I haven't gotten to you yet, have I ?

I always fear that feeling of having to wake up and shit but not making it to the bathroom in time.
I have a feeling Mexican food and the water wouldn't help that situation.

I tend to describe my luck in general as being just weird. Not bad, just weird. Now as for my luck with gambling, my luck is frightfully good whether it be simple scratch-offs or all nighters of Texas Hold 'Em.
