I own an sr15 an sr25 and a suppressor. You can stop sucking kacs nuts now. They havent been relevant for a long time in the civilian market, and its absolutely not due to "rapid market changes". Hell, they arent even very relevant in the mil world any more. And having met reed and his drunk son several times... that downturn couldnt have happened to a better company
I found the KAC URX4 to be far more ergonomic than the Geissele MK8. I'd also suggest checking out the Mega Arms Wedge Lock and the Centurion Arms CMR M-LOK.
They definitely damaged the brand name. They should have slowed production and maintained quality.
So.... the thread progresses from a debate about handguards to KAC-bashing, then ultimately doxing (or at least publicly going Karen on) Trey Knight....looks like he needs to mend his ways, sure, but public humiliation is over-rated, IMO.
I have a KAC URX 3.1, a newer M-LOK & a Keymod version, but overall I like the Geiselle rails better. But the URX is very strong, & unsurpassed for attachment strength to the upper receiver.
The MK-8 is too fat for my preference, but I've used several of the MK-14's & I like them a lot.............has a good barrel nut system.
The WOA rails are strong with a good barrel nut as well, but limited length options; the SLR Ion Lite rail is highly underrated too, with a good, long barrel nut also.

Well the newer URX rails are one piece so there aren’t any little set screws and stuff like that. It’s too bad kac doesn’t produce them in quantity or license them to someone who would.
Comparing my URX4s to other current handguards like the Geissele Mk16 or Zev/Triarc wedgelocks that have sizeable barrel nuts with firm lockup, I can’t really tell any difference in attachment strength to the receiver. They’re all rock solid. The wedgelocks are particularly solid. Their biggest downside is how small their ID is and absolutely no mlok attachments should be put next to the gas block.
Hell, the BCM QRF also has an incredibly strong lockup to the receiver too, with a smaller barrel nut.
I will admit the URX4s look awesome though, and I like how they feel, how much ID they have for both attachments and airflow, and that they’re 7075. But I did find I like the OD size of the Mk16 as a happy medium between the URX4s and the Wedgelocks.
KAC wouldn't say they’re 7075 last time I asked. Some generic “the alloy chosen is sufficient to meet the requirements” or something was as good as I got.
Not to mention alot of their customers you have no idea who they are and they don't publicize. Their compound is the size of a small city. They have the biggest private tank collection in the world. They have a Mclaren dealership on property.
I personally think KAC is limited by workers on what they can produce. They are right smack dab in middle of the space race near Cape Canaveral with the likes of Space X, NASA, Blue Origin, Orbital, NG and many others competing for limited labor in that area. There are only so many machinists, button pushers, engineers and assembly people in that area.
I have been to the compound, its freaking impressive.
Once KAC started getting popular by the chads and dicksucks who dont even shoot, I started punching out. I was a huge KAC collector back when only shooters knew what was up. Sold a bunch of KAC gear and guns for 10x what I paid for it. Still holding on to a few things that I will never sell, but you can buy way better gear for way less money today than the stuff KAC puts out.
