Winchester model 1905

Great guns!

When you say .35… you probably mean .351 Self Loader.

Lots of guys loved those for deer go here in VT.

Best known as the gun Frank Hamer carried. Shot the shit out of Bonnie and Clyde.

Magazines aren’t hard to find. Ammo… getting hard to find but you can handload.

Did I mention great guns!!!

Ouch! That will be a labor of love!

But have a good time with it! They are great shooters. Generally not worth a lot so fun to learn on and they are hammers when done!

What's the back story on that? Family piece? Cheap find?

Cheers and post pix!

How’s the bore look? I’d venture to guess it has some dark spots in it

Frank carried the Remington Model 8 in 35 Rem when he found B&C.

You sure? I was pretty confident that it was a .351 Self-Loading Winchester. And his posse had BAR's and... a bunch of everything else.

Color me wrong.... he carried the .351 and it was his favorite gun. But for Clyde, he used a Model 8 in .35 Remington and head-shotted him in the opening seconds of the ambush.

My bad! I learned something else new today. Today is an excellent day!

Cheers,

Frank's gun was nicknamed "pear burner" as it shot out flame in low light. In S Texas durning dry times as the 1930's prickly pear cactus had the thorns burned off with pear burners so cows had something to eat.
