Hey all - I’m driving myself nuts trying to find a brand of magazines that will reliably feed both supersonic and subsonic rounds on my honey badger. I have tried Magpul 556 and Magpul 300 as well as Legion 300 BLK and all work best with “one or the other” but not both.

Does anyone have a “magic” magazine brand in 30 round capacity that works for them across all different round types you have tried?

Lancer 300 BLK-specific mags. Not the 5.56/.223 mags (though those work well for me too), the ones designed specifically for 300BLK.

Are you sure it’s the magazines that are not working for both subs and supers, and not your gas system set-up?

Generating consistent bolt carrier internal pressure between a subsonic pistol powder load and a supersonic rifle powder load is really the main challenge with 300 Whisper.

I am pretty certain - this includes difficulty feeding even the first round in the magazine using the charging handle.

I’ll try that Lancer 300 BLK magazine - thank you for the suggestion!

Just FYI this is the disclaimer on the Lancer mags

NOTE: These magazines have been specifically designed and optimized to alleviate the stacking and feeding issues commonly experienced when running 200+ grain subsonic .300BLK cartridges in standard .223/5.56 magazines. If you are shooting lightweight supersonic .300BLK ammunition (<150gr), we recommend using a standard .223/5.56 L5AWM GEN 2 magazine.

Thanks for the advice all - i suspect the idea that there is “one” magazine that can work cleanly with both supers and subs is maybe a fantasy. I’ll stick to Magpul for my supers, and i have a bunch of lancers coming for the subs. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Thanks as always for the advice and experience all.

There is one mag, it's called an emag. I never had issues with any 556 or 300 subs or super with emags. They just don't make them anymore.

Wait, wait, wait. You have mags that run supers. And, you have mags that run subs. Right? But, you want to spend more money on mags that run both? Do you shoot supers and subs from the same loaded mag? Like 2 supers and 2 subs, then 2 supers and 2 subs. Or maybe 10 subs then 10 supers? If not, why not just mark the mags? Seems like it would be way cheaper than buying additional mags that may or may not do what you want.

BTW, Magpul 5.56 pmags run supers and subs in my AR 300blk rifle without issue.

Same for me. I run supers and subs out of the 5.56 Lancer mags as well. Never needed the 300 blk version of the Lancer. As Ernest 5.56 pointed out, those are specific for subs. They have a different follower. Fyi

News to me. I’ve been using these for subs and supers sans issues.

I am not sure about all the trick stuff . I have run 55.6 , 300 blackout , 458 socom and 50 beowulf in lancer mags and never had an issue with any of them . I run everything from 110 -225 bullets in my 300 blackout's I have 4 of them .
