K98 rifle with mg3 barrel

Hello to all , new to such an online community so apologies for any mistakes, i had k98 swapped to 308 mg3 with vector taurus optic barrel and took it to test zero it at 100M then jump to 550M need 5 mils and no problems but i went to 1.2km and i was on 24 mils to hit close to target which is about twice what drop calculators shows so what could be problem ( ammo -pof 147 grain - fn 7.61x51 - m118 long range and hallow point all are same result) that for helping
 
You made hits at 550m then went to 1200m and couldn't hit?
Did you shoot anything between 550 and 1200?
I'd double check everything in my ballistic calculator to start with.
I'm just a rancher but 308 wouldn't be my first choice at 1200m.

Never heard of POF ammunition- what are you using for MV and bullet BC?
Hornady's match ammo with a 155 EDM is WELL subsonic at 1300 yards at 970 FPS and 17.63 mils.
You're likely subsonic somewhere around 1000 yards and it's dropping like a rock for the last 200-300.

If you've got correct MV and BC, any accurate ballistics calc should get you very close to target- however, when you go subsonic all bets are off as every bullet flies differently as it goes transonic and then subsonic, including stability.

Unfortunately am in iraq and beside 308 and 7.62x54 we don’t have others available or very expensive to play with

pof is palstanian made linked ammo for mg3 machine gun and for those horndays and reloaded ammo we don’t have it in hand here so best we have is m118

I'm more concerned what his distance is from the Green Zone and maybe some discretion should be shown until its known who you speak with.
