Howdy, just joined the site and this is my first post. I recently bought a Ruger American Gen 2 in .223 and although I like the rifle a lot, I'm hoping to upgrade the stock. I was looking at getting the MDT Field Stock but couldn't find any mention of whether the version made for the Ruger American would work on the new Gen 2 rifles. I emailed MDT to ask and received this reply:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. We haven't been able to test the Gen 2's just yet, but we should have actions coming very soon, hopefully. We have received some feedback that the safety may cause some fitment issues in our chassis/stocks. If you would like to still try one out we do offer a 30-day return policy on all of our products. If we can help with any other questions, please let us know."

Has anyone here tried this out or know of any other aftermarket stocks out there that would fit the Gen 2? Any info would be much appreciated.

Send email to KRG, i bet they can tell, will it fit.
Action is the same, upgrade is on the safety, and the barrel is fluted, etc, but no change on the action.
But i recon, that you send email to KRG, they will know it best.

I just dropped my Ruger American .223 into the Bravo Chassis and it was really easy with no issues. I bought the KRG AICS .223 mags and had to swap to the extended mag catch that came with the chassis. It function tested pretty good with the Magpul dummy rounds.

The only issue I had was when I had it on the Tripod resting on a Game Changer bag and was pushing the mag into the bag causing a slight nosedive on the rounds as they were extracting from the mag into the chamber. As soon as I unloaded the mag from the bag, it worked flawlessly. I doubt I will ever shoot this rifle off this setup so I am not worried about it. However, if you plan on shooting off a bag like this, Gray Ops makes an ARCA Bag Stop the keeps the bag from contacting the mag.

I'm running an MDT XRS for my Gen 1 RA. The footprint is the same so it should fit the Gen 2's as well. Been a great rifle for me though I'll probably be going full custom in a year or two. This is the 3rd barrel, about 5000 rounds down the tube.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I'll have to contact KRG and see what they say about the Gen 2 fitting the Bravo chassis.

Nice! And I was assuming the same thing about the fit but it sounds like there may be an issue with the fit of the updated safety on the Gen 2 guns. Hopefully I'll find out soon!
 
I went ahead and ordered the MDT Field Stock and for anyone else wondering if their stocks are compatible with the Ruger American Gen 2, I'm happy to report that it fits great. The person who emailed me from MDT had warned me that there might be an issue with the Gen 2 safety switch fitting but it works perfectly. The stock feels super solid and it's a huge upgrade from the one the rifle came with - I'm really impressed. Now I just have to wait for the AICS mag I ordered to show up and I can finally take it for a spin!
