Officer #3 was running in circles once the shooting started. He didn’t get in on the action until the now unarmed suspect was out of the car.

Although it does beg the question why was tactical unit involved in a seatbelt violation. (Initial stop, from what I read).

And no less than 50 more showing up afterwards like it’s a freaking party. Seriously? There was one occupant in the car.

For those not familiar, that particular region of Chicago ain't exactly Beverly hills. But you got a tac unit rolling up for a seatbelt stop, and then einstein picks a gunfight with em.

Radio transmission was kinda funny--dispatcher keeps shouting back at them "WHERE?!"

Hard to tell what she was able to see from her position. The officer that was shot was standing across from her at the right front passenger door. Did she even know who was doing the shooting, and could she have thought it was that officer who shot first, which would mean she’s in a cross fire? If so she probably should have moved off-line towards the rear of the vehicle, but thats a minor gripe.


I didn't watch all the vids or read any of the documents.

Classic Hide. If she stands there and gets shot the armchair quarterbacks will say she should have moved away. When she runs away the armchair quarterbacks say she should have stayed there.

Were there some tactical errors here? Yes. Can the video be used for training and lessons learned? Yes.

Is it a chickenshit move to make a post about it just to call them cowards? Yes. But any excuse to hate on cops just for the sake of hating on cops seems to be the norm here.

You'd have never posted the video and praised the officer if she stood there and smoked the dude. You'd keep on clicking videos until you find something to make fun of or complain about.

Everything seemed to be SOP for Chicago, and all those involved. When you just throw (or install) warm body's you would expect a different outcome?
Much like nationally, if the leadership is brain dead or hell bent on the destruction of its charge, you think they are going to install competent, logically thinking/acting people?

I find myself quite comfortable with that analysis .....

It's not like the cops haven't worked very hard to both protect their retirement funding and the ire most all have for them these days.
Ire is a very soft word for what I really mean.....lets just say I'm feeling generous right now.

This was written back in 2014, now with the way things are and less people wanting to be cops I cant imagine the people they are hiring... They are also putting something in the water, todays people are more in tune with emotion than logic, simple things, things you'd normally make a logical decision on they cant, they switch to instant emotion.

Several mistakes but as people do, she panicked. None of them "distinguished" themselves, but that kinda stuff happens on a 2-way range in the heat of the moment.

Every single one of them forgot to call in their location on their "Shots fired"

What's your assessment of the "perp"?

Lotta questions to go around and I know when momma cries "they shot my boy" but he's packin in Garfield Park and uncooperative with police we aren't dealing with a model citizen, odds are.

That isn't a "just comply" and you will be fine. You can refuse to give answers but still cooperate. Starting a gunfight, pretty low on the list especially when outnumbered.

I'm sure all the Meal Team 6 operators here have it covered though.

My parents moved us out of Roseland south shitcago early 70s but I was in the city weekly until I left the area completely in86
Riverside, dalton, Calumet city, Pullman, blue island.
There must be 4 generations of chaos and no law in many parts of Chicago.
It's REAL bad. They have a real hard job with all the city and department issues.

Remember this is CPD, which are just a very slight cut above the actors in the police academy movie. However I suspect he had been to Cook co. jail once before and was not going back ever again. All of us who have had the pleasure to stay there awhile, have said that same thing. My 2 week visit was in the 60's so it may have changed somewhat, but I'd not take the chance. Cook co. or gun fight with all of CPD, no brainier,...
