I figured if nothing else the bear pit would make this entertaining. What are you guys using to insure your collection? Im looking for something that covers nfa items and optics. Everytime i travel to a match and leave my rifle in a hotel room or truck im sweating over it. My collection is modest by some standards but i couldn't replace it out of pocket if something happens. Thanks in advance.

I have part of it insured on a rider from State Farm on my home owners insurance. What I have would cover what I travel with for a match but not everything I own. I've been kicking around different riders and separate policies but haven't got a bottom line price together. My agent says I don't need to provide an inventory but an amount. I'm not sure about covering NFA items on it as I am lacking those toys.

.44 mag.
It's what I usually carry....but sometimes I feel a need for a change and slip down to a .45acp.
Fuck anything lighter.
Small holes were valid when I was 16, not now.

Okay, I stand corrected. I looked at Gun & Trophy and found it quite comparable to the other two.

Gun and Trophy.
I’ve had eastern and collectibles but now have gun and trophy. If you call and talk to the guy I promise you will buy the policy before you get off the phone. 40k in coverage for about 175 a year which was considerably less than collectibles. It covers everything but ammo. It covers theft, theft from vehicle, government seizure, dropping out of a tree, optics ect. The guy is a 2A friend and a trap shooter, retired insurance guy who now only deals with Gin insurance with his son, can’t recommend gun and trophy enough, and I believe it’s underwritten with the same company as Eastern. I haven’t had to file a claim but the guy was very easy to reach and do feel he would bend over backward to help if I did need to file a claim.

Rider on my homeowners insurance. It's cheap, but I'm also in a rural area and they're a co-op that only serves the state.

Eastern is about $150 per 45K coverage. IIRC, you have to itemize any single gun whose value is over 10k. It was much less expensive than the State Farm rider I looked into.

You will be hard pressed to collect on a claim if anything happens. Your agent is incorrect, you need an inventory list and an appraisal. They do not sell blind policies insuring something they don't even know exists. If your agent is collecting premiums on a rider policy something is way wrong.

I am insured with State Farm and I worked for them for 30 years in claims. They won't even insure my guns. Once I sent them a 5 page inventory list with values and told them this was the only part of my collection I wanted to insured but I have a lot more. The underwriting department told me they would not insure them because the value was too high, and this was when I still worked for them.

The standard H04 homeowners policy only covers $2500 worth of guns after the deductible has been met, so basically one mid range value scope.

Back from the dead.

Has Eastern Insurance went bankrupt? I had insurance thru them for about a decade and they simply disappeared last year, no renewal, no email response, nothing. I'm guessing their policy was fucking worthless the entire time based on this crap.

Should check BBB for complaints every year before renewing... see if they aren't paying claims.
