What's the first thing people stop buying in a recession? Rolex, lobster and crab.

Where is the "accountability". I say "Not one more penny until you figure out where the money went" !

Santa Monica city officials last week approved a multimillion-dollar apartment unit for the homeless just days after the release of an audit which found California could not account for the$24 billion it spent on the state’s burgeoning homeless crisis.
The 122-unit building for the homeless will include a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, along with ground floor retail and residential and commercial parking spaces.
"Moving forward in bringing affordable and permanent supportive housing to city-owned land is a key step in our strategy to fulfill our Housing Element requirements," Mayor Phil Brock said. "I look forward to the next steps and ultimately seeing families move into these new homes and thrive."

Off-grid couple who fled mainstream society to live on a houseboat deep in the lawless Louisiana SWAMP lift the lid on their very unique lifestyle that sees them hunting 'giant rats' for dinner and fending off ALLIGATORS

Johnson has been playing a weak hand. His message this week, to the Republicans, was get together as a block voting group or this is what you will be getting in the future.
Being in the 49% group gives a member the feeling of "We have won many, many battles"....... The focus should be on the war, not the battles.

There is a very good chance after the elections (State and National) there will be several states with a "Super Majority" Legislature. This could hold true for the US Congress as well. A minority that won't even be winning 49% of the time.

As a young man, that lifestyle was my dream. I spent many, many days on house boats in the Louisiana swamp.
That is me, 70 years ago.

The Stan all over again except the benefits go directly to an almost peer competitor who has quite a bit of recent regular army combat practice. Imagine if an initial NATO shock and awe campaign
against Russia didn’t end the conflict. How many hundreds or thousands of dead military members will the NATO public be comfortable with?

Thats nothing new. There are thousands of houseboats, swamp houses and cabins stuck back in the woods and swamps in Louisiana.

The next time you see some bimbo-green-haired-feminist with a hog ring in her nose protesting for those rag-headed-goatfuckers, and women's "rights," show them this video. Then ask them why they don't go to the sandbox and protest against this.

I have as much sympathy for the plight of western women as I would for a turd in the toilet. On the other hand, I feel sorry for the woman in this video. She's never had a chance to experience any freedom like the feminist turds over here.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is moving forward with a legislative package to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. Despite fierce opposition from MAGA Republicans within his caucus, Johnson has decided that the imperative of the US providing this assistance is more important than pleasing all the members of his caucus.
Without this support, international adversaries, including Russia, Iran and China, would read the failure of the US Congress to pass legislation as a sign that MAGA’s America First agenda was triumphant. They might conclude that age of internationalism, entrenched into American politics since World War II, had come to an end.
The problem for Johnson is that his decision to move forward could very well cost him his job. Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been beating the drums to vote Johnson, who is himself also an extreme right-wing Republican, out of office. With the new rules adopted by House Republicans when Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California was elected speaker last year, it only takes one member to trigger a vote to “vacate” the speakership.
When GOP House members adopted this lower threshold in exchange for accepting McCarthy, experts understood that the rule would create extreme instability within the Republican caucus. That proved true in October when McCarthy became the first speaker in American history who was voted out of his position. With the low threshold whoever was speaker would always know that angering just one member could result in their downfall.

Those fishing fleets at night are quite a sight to behold. Last night time crossing I did was a while back, but got photos of one group at 41N 176W and another about 3 degrees farther east. They were small compared to the ones by mainland China, but still 80 or so miles long. Don't know who they were, but it was impressive.

Of course this has NOTHING to do with 100's of MILLIONS of gallons of radioactive water being dumped into the Pacific by Japan/Tepco... I wonder if they know if the Chinese ban on Japanese Seafood products is going to be extended to Alaskan fisheries.... which only makes sense... due to currents etc.. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-...mid-criticism-seafood-import-bans-2023-08-23/
