Well, my boy is 16 and dreams of being the next heavy metal bass star. He's pretty good. Has a band coming together --guitarist is good, drummer is decent and getting better, but they really need a lead vocals...
Anyway, they want to start gigging this summer, so I got him got a PA system. Mixer, pair of 15" subs, and a decent mic (he does backup vocals). It's starter level stuff, but makes a huge difference. We can actually stand to listen to them practice in the basement now!
