not a big baseball fan. i think Bob was one of the few people that stood out to me. seemed like a great guy and and all around class act. a very likable person. he certainly touched a lot of lives and left a positive mark on the world.
I watched baseball as a kid. I was born in California and I even lived in San Diego. The Padres were my time. They had a solid hitter named nicknamed "Boom-Boom." He could send it over the wall. I was at a game where he did that.
What a legend. I remember hearing his voice through the static when I was little. My great uncle George and I would sit on the porch and listen while we swatted mosquitoes and he sipped Old Style beers and smoked Captain Black pipe tobacco. End of a beautiful era
