The xl is for a straight contour or very very heavy barrel profile. Still 5/8x24. The other two fit a proof comp contour and down 5/8x24

So the XL will work on any barrel diameter

Correct, it will look a little weird if you put it on something smaller that a comp contour though. Just fyi

No you don’t need shims. If you aren’t running a straight 1.250 you don’t want the xl. It will look weird

I was just thinking if not that much bigger would work incase I did change barrels

So the XL is just alittle wider then comp.
