I did not know realize Scheels doesn't charge hazmat when shipping ammo. They have some pretty good deals right now.

Since when has loaded ammo been hazmat? Ive never paid haz on loaded ammo from anywhere.

Ammo is not hazmat per federal regs. Any store charging people such fees is either retarded or dishonest.
Scheels in N. Texas is WAY bigger than Academy. In stock reloading equipment, tons more ammo, and much larger area of guns for sale.
If Dick’s knocked up Bass Pro, the love child would be named Scheels. Think Cabela’s with golf and soccer shit, and while they run half decent sales they’re way overpriced on regular days.

We have a Scheels here in Illinois and it has a section for just about any sport, including clothes and a cafe/deli. They even have an indoor ferris wheel for the kids/adults. They give a 10% discount for Mil/LE and veterans but you must ask for it.
Decent selection of guns/ammo but prices can sometimes be a bit higher than online.

yeah my first scheel's experience was when they opened a store in reno. amazing place, at least imo, blows all the other outdoor-related box stores away.
and not sure dick's is the best example, after they butchered their acquisition of galyans.
I buy quite a bit of ammo there. They have gotten more expensive as they've expanded, but they're still a family owned store. They've been in ND, and MT ever since I can remember.
Used to be they were in the local malls, and the only stand alone was their flagship in Fargo. As malls have died, they seem to be just dropping copies of the flagship all over the country.
