I saw an air disaster video of a plane that crashed "partially" because (there were other factors as well) of a older plane weight formula pilots used to use to calculate the average weight of the amount of passengers they had on it, plus luggage, etc. The FAA had to change that formula to a new one compensating for societies increase in average weight.
