I have two AI rifles - one is a AX the other is a AE MKIII

I had a little bucket full of AI mags, foolishly I just assumed they used the same mag, however seems I am wrong.

The 5 round mags I have look like a double stack design, they go into the AE magwell but dont snap in. They work fine in the AX
The 10 round mags I have look like a single stack design, they snap into BOTH the AE and AX

does someone have a few pictures they can share that explain the differences?

ok so how does the compatibility work for my two rifles? I assume my AE MK3 one takes the single stack, whereas the AX can take both?

No idea. Never owned an AI. I just googled pictures. lol

The AE takes any AICS pattern mag, which has a staggered stack and single feed(5 or 10 rd). The AX takes the double stack double feed mags(10 rd only). The aics mags should function in the AX.

Snap a pic of the mags. Preferably like the pics are above

The double stack 10 rounder like on the far left above is for AW/AT rifles. The AX is the same design but with a small lip in the front. Those work for the AX and ATX/ATXC rifles

No idea what the AE uses off the top of my head but there’s threads here discussing differences in depth if you search

5/10 round AICS mags suck compared to the legit AI double stack mags.

A 10 round AW/AX double stack mag will be the same size as the AICS 5 round mag
