New to reloading and question regarding initial seating depth. If I did things right I am roughly 20 thousandths off the lands, overall cartridge length is 2.93 which seems a little long from what I have read on here regarding 6.5cm loads. Bullets are Berger hybrid target, 140g. I took the firing pin assembly out of the bolt and it closes smoothly at this depth. Is this a decent place to start?

No telling on where the gun is going to like it. I would start around 2.800. Most people are around 2.800 to 2.850 area. Also depending on what you read, some people like it close to the lands, some people start further away. 2.930 doesn't seem like there is a lot of bullet being held on by the neck. The Hybrids are not that sensitive to jump.

Received my Autotrickler V4 and FX-120i scale and got it all set up today. Using Berger 6.5cm 140g hybrid target bullets and 40 grains of H4350. Using 1x fired Hornady brass. COAL starting out is 2.815 but with these hybrid bullets they seem to be seated pretty deep and if I measured everything correctly about 80 thousands off the lands which seems pretty far. Barrel is Bartlein, 28". Is this an okay/safe load to start out at? First time reloading.

I was previously shooting Hornady ELD Match 140g and averaging 2809 fps with a suppressor which increased my velocity about 40fps vs with a brake.

SAAMI chamber? My experience with SAAMI chambers in 6.5 CM with the .199" freebore is that the closest I could get to the lands was about .070" off with 140 HT's while staying inside mag length of my MDT mags with binder plate (they publish max of 2.87.

Another .070" would put you at about .140 off of the lands....to me, that's a bit much BUT the 140 HT's are reputed to be very jump tolerant and I did see some time ago Satterlee was experimenting with jump out to .250 and in the article linked below, he said:

"One of those is Scott Satterlee, who has placed in the top 10 in both the PRS and NRL in the overall national standings in recent years and is clearly one of the best shooters in the country. Over the past two years, Scott has experimented with freebore and bullet jumps all the way out to 0.250 inches! He is now on his 5th barrel since he’s been experimenting with longer bullet jumps and said, “This isn’t something that I’m still wondering if it’s true or not. After 5 barrels, I know it’s real. There is a real improvement and benefit here.”
In the same article, Wade Stuteville said:
"He discovered on his 6×47 rifles he could start off jumping the 105 Hybrid’s around 0.080” and never have to change the seating depth over the entire life of the barrel and it’d perform great the whole time. Wade explained, “Over the life of the barrel, my jump might change from 0.080” to 0.130” or something, but it never really comes out of tune. And I’ve had a lot of cartridges that have been that way in the past.”
Give the article a read....I'm no expert or hot shot shooter....so read it and see if it informs your thoughts at all.

For me...I just recently had a 6.5 CM barrel spun with .150" freebore to let me get closer to the lands....IF that's a place I want to be. Easy to move back more....tough to get close if it exceeds mag length

Likewise, I've experimented with my .308 where I found a good seating depth the produced really well for a long time not changing it for ~2,000 rounds fired. Of course, the throat eroded and the jump over that time increased substantially. I did this test after reading about several top notch shooters telling how they never change their seating depth for the life of their barrel (smaller calibers with barrel life less than 2,000 rounds). This was what really convinced me that seating depth was way more important than jump and that jump was really not anything one should focus on with developing a load. . . except to know where the lands is on their particular gun to decide a starting point. That why I often cringe when I see people asking about someone's jump instead of asking about seating depth.

This is a 3 shot confirmation group around .120 off the lands. COAL at 2.80 to fit binder mags with alpha brass and 140 hybrids out of a proof prefit.. FWIW.

That’s cuz it be seating depth not jump that matters.

5 shot group of 40.5gr, H4350, average velocity of 2740, SD of 7.2 and a 7 shot group of 40.0gr using H4350, SD 4.5, average velocity of 2710. I think the bottom two lower shots out of the 7 were due to my shooting. The 40.5gr seems good to me and decent velocity, should I leave it alone at 40.5gr or try a little more? All the shots were using a suppressor, an Abel theorem-S. I have only been shooting with the Abel Theorem but didn't use it today.

Brass was 1x fired Hornady from ELD Match factory ammo, 140G Berger hybrid target bullets. COAL was 2.894 for the 5 shot at 40.5gr and maybe a couple very slightly shorter with the 7 shot group at 40.0gr

If you are happy with it, leave it alone and load up a bunch to confirm the load. But you still have room to go on the charge. Better brass can be loaded closer to 43grs and still will shoot. 41.3-42.7 is the sweet spot for the 140gr class of bullets with H4350.
