Strasser RS 700: straight pull Remage-style barrel nut that uses R700 accessories (stocks, triggers)

I'm building my son a custom .308 for his college graduation this year and went with the Strasser 700 footprint left hand action. Manners stock, 20" barrel. It should be done in a few months when he graduates. We cannot wait. I may have to get one built for myself.

I have a lefty RS700 as well. Starting with 18" Proof CF 308, 20-22" 6BRA, and 6.5 SST barrels. /going in a Q Sidechick milled for the lefty with a Huber 2 stage bottom safety trigger for mid range hunting, and either a Xylo or a Manners Nightstalker for other things.

Can you mount the barrel to the Strasser with out the barrel locking ring?
If the gunsmith is doing the threads tightening the more it is turn inside the action, like on the normal rifles?
Or is it must to mount with the barrel nut?
I do have a different barrels on my Tikka, that i change to my rifle, and what i am thinking is, that on Tikka, you have a thicker
barrel from the start of the chamber, than the barrel nut style action, so it is not as beefy from the action as it is in Tikka, does
it have any efect on accyracy and the barrel keeping the accuracy when shoot it hot, like 15-20 rounds in a short period of time?

A shouldered barrel is no problem at all.

How do you hold the receiver to tighten? Take off the scope rail and clamp around the receiver?
What kind of action wrench do you have? I don’t know of a rear entry wrench that would work given the lack of raceways. It’s not hard especially given there’s a port on both sides of the action… and if you’re using a clamshell style (don’t know what they’re called - “external?” like a cheap Wheeler) I’d leave the rail on. It’s steel and I can’t see hurting it.

Do you have a RS700? Have you tried changing barrels on one?

I would like to try the shouldered barrel, having in thicker from the action, and doing it a bit stiffer.
Or is it any stiffer than the barrel nut type of barrel?
But if use a burrel nut type of Remington barrel, i think what i have looked, you are not able to get it as thick as shouldered barrel.
I am having a Strasser RS 700 in this month, and it has a factory (Lothar Walther barrel) and i can say that these do shoot very well.
I did tested the new Lapua MaxRange Target 144gr pills last week, and it does shoot 0.22 MOA and 0.2 MOA with 4 shot´s, but the fifth
it did not hold on the same group, might be a shooter that did the pull, dont know, but what i look the the rifle, i would say that
it might do better with a shouldered barrel.
Will see when i get my rifle and Carbon X stock in to it.

Yes, I made some shouldered barrels for the Strasser. We have a few here now, got our wires crossed with them and they wanted barrel nut barrels so I have several prefits sitting on the shelf that need a home.

I thought it was a really slick action, they have a pretty cool product.

Can you run it slow? How about reeeaallly slow? All the while having a stable sight picture?

Sometimes you want to look through the scope while running an action.

For example, my t-bolt, which is no where near the mechanical perfection of something like a Strasser, definitely needs some oomph! and momentum behind the cycling. Can’t have a stable sight picture through the scope while cycling.

I didn't try to Mark Walberg it and make a meal out of running it, but it does run nicely slow and quick. It doesn't work like a T bolt or an old K31. It has a cam that rocks back and forth to unlock and lock the action. It's positive feel and well machined. I found it easier to keep the sight picture stable than a regular turn bolt style action

I almost wish you didn’t say that lol. I know I’m the thread’s OP, but man, I’m flat outta room in the safe.

You think the action would run a 204 Ruger cartridge? I’m Mr. Small caliber.

I might’ve already posed this stupid question to Strasser.

Checked email, and yes I did, and yes it can! I somehow doubt you have a prefit in 204 lol
I don't, but I do have 10tw 20cal blanks from Lothar Walther Germany

I have a 300 BLK, 6.5 Creed and 6.5 PRC

Do you have a .308 prefit for the Strasser? I'm building a left hand .308 for my son's college graduation present and using the Strasser action. I'm thinking I may have to get one for myself if it turns out like I think it will
I have a 7tw 300 BLK, but we can make a 308 for you. I don't normally keep finished barrels on the shelf, we just happened to get our wires crossed with an order from Strasser for test barrels and I have these 3 here. Making more is no problem if you want to put in an order.

I don't have the action listed on our website prefit options, but we can do it. You want to give me a call and I'll get you setup

You enabling bastard! Lol
Fritz at Black Canyon Custom has a Strasser in a Manners Nightstalker, 16" Proof CF 6 Creedmoor for sale. It's really smooth. Hit him up.

Jeez that’s a sweet rig.

Fritz is spinning up a 22-250 Muller barrel now for my AIAT. I heard he’s good. I need to stop my son from jamming my safe full of stuff like trapdoor Springfields (or buy another safe…and get a divorce haha).

Holy shiet, that Strasser is on fire!
My project at the Strasser RS 700, got first part yesterday.
Bix´n Andy TacSport Pro X trigger arrived from Austria.
Single state, and just how beautiful this trigger is, feels like a Suisse watch.
Also, it is my very first Remington style trigger, questio in, do i need to change the top sear on the trigger, or
im i good to go?
I did not knew anything of this, until i did look these videos from bullet central.

Barrelled action is on it´s way, and i might get it tomorrow or early on the next week.
Then i need to find a stock/chassis for the action..
I am going to get a carbonfiber stock on it, but not sure when this will arrive, so i would need a
plan b for that time.
All the other chassis i got, are with Tikka inlets, but not sure how long, because these Strassers has change my mind and
philosophy of "bolt" guns.
