Over time I have had pretty much every high end optic including S&B,s new 6-36 and 10-60 series.
I have just got my 4th S&B 5-45....and at this point it's turned out to be my pick and preference.
It's strong point is its sheer resolution prowess....even against its new siblings. Durability to this point is also a strong point....no issues at all ..
I know this optic is frowned opon by some....but for me it's a pleasure to own and use..

I wonder if it had some stealth upgrades like the NF NX8 series did? Early reviews on both were not great. I must admit I am a sucker for S&B and actually prefer the its illumination knob location.

How is it in strong flare conditions?

Upgrades ?.....entirely possible all mine a re reasonably recent manufacture..

Haven't really scrutinised them in regards to " Strong Flare Conditions " ...
The 5-45 ,s are not as "Contrasty" as the 6-36 and 10-60... but after several comparisons the 5-45 ( to everyone's surprise) out resolves the others in finite detail .

Good old Schmidt and Bender. I remember when if you wanted a top tier "Tactical or Precision" rifle scope, the choice was Schmidt and Bender or Zeiss Hensoldt. So many brands are in that category now. One thing I've always said, it get behind the optic you want because different eyes see and perceive things differently. I still have a 5-25 PMII and a 1.5-8x42 on a hunting rifle. gotta shoot what you like.

I've really liked the S&B when I had them. My first top tier optic was a PMII 327 HP, I loved it despite others who complain about it. Would love to get more S&Bs but their pricing is out of this world. ZCOs are the best bang for your buck top tier optic right now. Was looking at TTs earlier on Memorial day sales...still over 6k! They're out of control too.

Agree on S&B pricing ... here in Aus the 5-45 is now around AUD $14K ..

Would love to get my hands on a 5-45 but not gonna happen at current prices. Bought a 6-36 off a member here for a very reasonable price and I liked it just has much as my ZCO 527. Which is to say I liked it so much I bought a second when I saw Euro had a "used" one for less than I paid for my first.

Current prices on all the S&B's are insane though.
