We lost LWD (little white dog, aka Boxer) yesterday. He was 17.

Great little dog. Bichon/poodle mix.

The pet of my boy’s childhood. Boxer came home when the boy was 7, the boy is now 24.

He’d been declining rapidly and decided to make it easy on us by not waking up. He’s the last dog I’ll have.

RIP Boxer.

Pharmseller,

You know as well as I do that dogs need good humans and humans need good dogs.

I realize that it hurts us when a dog leaves the family and causes such pain that we decide we as humans won't allow ourselves to be hurt again.

There is a dog out there that needs a good human, be the one who gives a good dog a good family that it needs.

I live in an apartment and I am not allowed to have pets. I assure you that I have had many dogs and I know how it feels to lose a buddy but the split second I am in a place where dogs are allowed, I will find a dog that needs me as much as I need the dog.

Don't give up.

Thanks for all the kind words.

My wife and I are at the point in our journey that we’re seriously considering retirement, and the ensuing activities. Adding a new dependent throws a complication that neither of us wants.

You get more than you give, but for now, anyway, my giving is over.

Depending on what you plan on doing, a dog that starts life riding around in your truck with you everywhere is never bad.

My crew cab is more for the dogs than the kids. They just load up in the back seat and ride around everywhere with me.

Sorry for your loss, I feel your pain as I also had my buddy pass in the last few days. Although I do not plan on getting another dog, if one by chance crosses my path like the last few have I will welcome it.
