I have a Elcan Specter 1-4... I want to disassemble the base from the optic - Appears I need a tool to do so? I went back and checked the box but don't think I have it

Thoughts? Am I thinking about this wrong?

Thanks

lol / I get that…

Hunting hogs in the TX red dirt. I would like to remove the mount and be able to clean more thoroughly

Not considering anything other than removing the mount portion

Appreciate the info

I know nothing about the Elcan, but from what I see there - I'd clear carefully and contentiously without further disassembly.

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it. What you are talking about doing is essentially mucking with what is the erector assembly as it were, on an Elcan.

I'm sure you're aware that the Elcan's base is spring loaded. You can lift up on the rear end of the scope body to give you a little room. I'd drizzle some cleaner in there, let it soak and then blow it out with air. Elcan's can take a lot more abuse than hunting in Texas.

As far as applying compressed air goes, I wouldn't go shooting a high pressure stream of air at any sealed seams.

Personally, I'd just dunk the whole thing in a bucket with Dawn dish detergent, work the spring action on the body a few times and rinse it off.
