I bought a synthetic grill brush last year because I saw a stainless bristle on a burger I had grilled. Glad we found it before someone ate it.
The first dive the wife and I did in the Caribbean we had a bait ball engulf us. It was super cool and as you said there is usually a big predator chasing them. We were in about 40' of water under the St Croix pier.

I agree with much that was said in the video. There has been so much knowledge and skill lost since we stopped making things in America.
I'm cheap... I just heat up the grill and then use a waded-up ball of aluminum foil and a pair of grill tongs to clean the grill. I guess that could still be a bit dangerous if a piece of foil tears off and I don't notice it...
