Thoughts on muzzle device under the silencer…

Does anyone have any thought on if the muzzle device the silencer is mounted to has any effects?

I have a Dead Air Sandman S that I use on multiple rifles that uses the Keymo mount. I’m curious if anyone thinks that having a brake vs. a 3 prong flash hider vs. nothing will have an effect.

I don’t think it matters but this new upper will have an 18” Proof barrel.

Thanks

I don’t think that there is any difference in accuracy or sound reduction between the two types of muzzle devices.
I run flash suppressors on nearly all of my guns because that’s what I want if I am shooting without the can.
The only exception is my 10.3” 5.56 mm AR.
I have a brake mounted on that one because it *may* help to reduce wear on the first baffle in the can.
It is really obnoxious without the suppressor mounted. I never shoot it unsuppressed.

Equal gas pressure release has, IME, given better precision. I’ve run brakes, a2’s, and 3 or 4 prong flash hiders and I’ve always gotten better groups with muzzle devices that equallaterally disperse the gasses at the muzzle. Sometimes it’s a minuscule difference and sometimes it’s significant. Maybe there’s nothing to it. It just always seems to work that way. 🤷🏿‍♂️

A2’s and brakes with ports at the top seem to be the worst.

How about a hybrid? I run the Blackout Defense Keymo Hybrid under a Sandman S on my Proof 20" 223W and under a Lazarus 6 on my 20" Proof 6Arc. Neither produces much recoil so if you do happen to shoot without the can the noise/concussion is not as bad as with a brake. Both guns can shot 3/4ish 5 shot groups
