You don’t have to jump on the train as it’s crashing, though. You can watch the train wreck for a bit before you help make it worse
Y'all laugh but in the small town I grew up in we had a guy who went by Doodlebug. He was raised by his aunt and grandmother. All they had was feedsack dresses so thats what he wore. Long greasy hair down to the middle of his back you'd see him walking to town and back in his dress and brogan boots. Doodle didnt bother anyone and anyone who was stupid enough to bother him regretted it. Two cops tried to arrest him for drunk in public and one ended up in the hospital.
