Wow, Ozzy's gone.........

...Sabbath was very BIG when I was in H.S. in the 70's. Wasn't too sure I cared for the music, at that time in my life, anyways. When I first heard "Free For All" and "Cat Scratch Fever", I was changed from a Beach Boys/Hank Williams guy, to a full on hard rocker dude.
When I heard Uncle Ted wail on that guitar, I was a changed man, forever.
R.I.P. OZZY! You gave me great memories (and a couple of concerts), even to this day.

Ozzy helped change the landscape of rock music. If not for Parkinsons he would still be kicking it hardcore. Every penny made from his last concert went to Parkinsons research.
Ozzy was the first guy ever saw in concert.
He was with Black Sabbath opening for Ted Nugent on Ted’s Cat Scratch fever tour. Portland Maine.
A few days ago. He wanted to say goodbye one last time.……

First concert I ever went to was Black Sabbath and Ted Nugent
I heard a sound board thing. I couldn't make it through. I couldn't tell if he'd just lost it with his illnesses or if he KNEW that was it, he was done. I've seen clips on youtube of him in other songs at the show and I have to say, he truly loved his fans and performing because he looked in massive pain and his Parkinsons was very bad, it was like he was having fits that in the 15th century they'd kill you for. VERY sad. But, he went out as he would have wanted, and not many people get to do that.
Local radio station has played Ozzy all day today. Songs I’ve never heard on air before.
There is actually a chance he might have accepted Jesus in his last few weeks. Someone gave him an engraved Bible with his name on and a simple letter on finding salvation; family said he read it many times and made a fuss when it was almost left behind. So there is a chance...
That would be awesome. Ozzy never really was satanic, or anti-God. He was all about theatrics and imagery to create a brand. He tapped into the same market attraction as haunted houses and horror movies. He didn’t seem to like organized religion at all (!), but I’ve heard him say quite a few things over the years that indicated he believed in God as our Creator, and was not hardened against Him. I just don’t think he fully understood everything that goes along with that.
To add to my post above, I put Iron Maiden in the same category as Ozzy. In fact, I believe one or more of their guys are actually Believers nowadays. When I was coming of age as a guitarist (during their peak), Iron Maiden and Ozzy were called “satanic”. Years later (and with the help of the internet to actually research), I can now look back and see that it was all theater. If you really listen to, or read the lyrics, the actual messages in the songs, were not what they were alleged to be about. For instance, the song “Number Of The Beast” was always seen as open Satanism. But it was actually written about a nightmare Steve Harris had after seeing the movie “The Omen II”. If you read them, the lyrics describe being horrified by “witnessing” (in a dream) a Satanic ritual, NOT promoting it. Most of Ozzy’s lyrics on the subject are similar. But most everyone loves a scary movie, or a trip to a haunted house at Halloween, and these guys tapped into that attraction.
