People who dump kittens and puppies should be strung up….

I need some advice. I adopted a lab pup around Christmas. He is 8 months old and is already 70 plus pounds. He is a handful and smart. I don’t know shit about training a dog properly. My wife about shits when I talk about sending him off for some basic training. I think it’s necessary. Thoughts?
absolutely. your wife won't like the damage an uncontrolled dog can do. start with crate training right away. then send him off if that is your move. YT will have crate training vids. no it is not cruel. they are denning animals. if you can go to training with the dog. learn how to handle one. very satisfying if you have the time.

And yet they don't kill us... Because until they evolve opposed thumbs, they can't operate a can opener or get into the food closet!

Though General Sherman opens doors with no problem. Little bastard. He also stole the key to my gun cabinet and 'lost' it under a carpet. It took me a month to find it. Literally pulled it out of the lock and buggered off with it.

Studies also show that cats love us... so must be a love-hate thing. Which is why they are more interesting than dogs. If not as useful!

Cheers,

Sirhr
useful? can you imagine what we would have if we had applied the same techniques we used with dogs and horses? i mean like the Mendel/Carver things. how would you like 100lb Leopard for a security/protection critter? we missed their "potential" IMHO. my two are realized, not potential PsITA.

There is a video of some of the local cops finding a baby rabbit on the road. One is going to move it off the road and let it go when another one asks to hold it. As soon as he gets it he throws it against a truck as hard as he can killing it and laughs. I'd post the video but its on facebook. I cant figure how to post it without my personal info being compromised which has happened. A POS member here did that to me awhile back. If I can find a seperate link I'll post it.

In the last 10-ish years we have rescued 38 kittens/cats and over 80 puppies/dogs that people have discarded on our rural country road. Alabama is the Patron State of Discarded Animals. Many have been tossed out in tied trashbags. Most had died, but my wife and I have found a number still alive. We found 8 kittens in a tied Hefty bag on the side of the road — alive. We saw the bag moving. The last photos are two pups that we found in a tied / sealed garbage bag. They must’ve been dumped off not long before my wife and I went for our morning walk. They would have suffocated to death in a few minutes. Look at their faces. They were scared to death for the first day, but quickly warmed up to us and the farm animals. What kind of human do you have to be to put such beautiful, innocent puppies ALIVE into a bag to die in agony?!

With spring and summer here… been a rash of people dumping off unwanted litters around the area. Kittens and puppies both.

Not bothering to take them to the shelter (paperwork and fees? Don’t know if shelter charges for surrenders of litters??) and leaving them in a parking lot or by the road?? That is lower than whale shit.

On the bright side…. This little guy adopted me on Tuesday. After a bath, a couple of days of quarantine away from the other cats and a vet check… he thinks he rules the house.

Meet General “Blackjack” Pershing. He has been stuck to me like glue and eating like a cavalry horse! He loves belly rubs!!

So far Boudicca is afraid of him. General Sherman is not happy. And Pouncy the old man who has been through this before… seems to be accepting him fine. Couple of weeks, they will all be sleeping in a pile together…

Baby kittens are so cute!!!

Beautiful car

I have a brother/sister pair of black cats that we rescued, they are awesome and have the personalities of dogs

People who mistreat animals i consider "sub-human" in the literal sense. I wish there were much harsher penalties for these types of actions

My son refers to our Malinois as "Murder Puppy" . Says she wants to kill everything and everyone . While I agree she can still be quite affectionate. When in trouble or corrected she'll heave herself into your lap leaning back into you lookin fer love . Honestly the most unique personalitied dog I've ever known .

Today, I'm pissed.
My father's crazy neighbor "lady" disappeared several weeks ago.
Then the house was condemned.
Two weeks later "animal control" posts a note that they collected the grumpy dog from the house.

We never heard anything from the dog, but I'm suspecting that he got abandoned in the house for weeks.
And as grumpy as he was, he deserved better than to be locked up and abandoned.
And so at the expense of being redundant.
I'm pissed.

@TheHorta
The whole concept pisses me off, and those who commit these acts are definitely less-then-human.

All y'all who rescue, my hat's off to y'all.

Just wanted to say, since seeing this picture 'some days ago' it still seems to be burned into the back of my head and I keep thinking of it. So many animals are worth so much more than too many humans.
