I noticed material flaking on the bolt face when cleaning, bolt has only about 50 rounds on it. Is this normal when "breaking in" or should I be concerned? I suspect it could be normal but looking for input.

IMO, your picture is not clear enough to be certain. Based upon what I see, that flaking seems to be carbon or other material than metal.

Have you bothered to scrape it out and try to determine what it is?

It could well be residual processing or storing oils that have burned.

I’m just winging it here. I think we need more information from you.

I didnt get pictures but when I cleaned with a Q tip the material flaked off completely and was a chrome/silver color, I've tried to look up what coating DT uses but have not found it yet.

Is it for sure part of the bolt face? Not compacted powder or something built up on it?

With limited information and based soley on the photo it appears to be the chrome plating flaking off. It won't hurt the functionality of the bolt, but it would be a good idea to contact the supplier. I have not doubt it's not the only one out of the batch that's effected.

ETA: It appears the origin of the delamination is at the plunger holes.
